New Year, New Faces, New Systems!

Welcome to 2015! I am extremely hopeful for this year and look forward to all of the great work our wonderful team will accomplish in prevention, intervention and treatment. I feel truly blessed to have the best, most dedicated staff, performing wonderful work and touching thousands of lives.

We begin 2015 with our new Interim Adult Services Director, Elizabeth Gonzalez, LCSW. Elizabeth is a CETPA veteran who has returned to help us with our transition to fee for services for the adult program and the direction and supervision of our adult clinicians. Gloria Juliao, LPC, our Children and Adolescent Director will be assisting Elizabeth with some duties until she gets established.

Jeniffer Manon Ruiz, our DREAMRS Case Manager, has been promoted and she is now the Director for the Alcohol Prevention Project at CETPA. Jeniffer's new duties include managing our five region grant to address underage drinking in Latino communities in Dalton, Carrollton, Savannah, Valdosta and Norcross.

Carla Uribe has been promoted to Technology Coordinator taking over all duties in our technology department.

¡Año nuevo, nuevas caras, nuevos sistemas!

¡Bienvenidos al 2015! Comienzo el año con mucha emoción por todo el gran trabajo que nuestro maravilloso equipo logrará en las ramas de prevención, de intervención y de tratamiento. Me siento realmente bendecido por tener el mejor equipo, el más dedicado, el cual esta realizando un trabajo maravilloso cuidando el bienestar emocional de miles de familias latinas.

Comenzamos el 2015 con nuestra nueva Directora de Servicios para Adultos, Elizabeth González, LCSW. Elizabeth es una cara muy conocida en CETPA quien ha regresado para ayudarnos con nuestra transición de la forma que prestamos servicios en el programa de adultos y con la dirección y la supervisión del equipo de consejeros de los adultos. Gloria Juliao, LPC, nuestra Directora del programa de Niños y de Adolescentes estará ayudando a Elizabeth con algunos deberes hasta que se establezca.

Jeniffer Manon Ruiz, nuestra Gerente de Casos del Club DREAMRS, ha sido promovida y ella ahora es la Directora del Proyecto de Prevención de Alcohol en CETPA. Nuevas funciones de Jeniffer incluyen la gestión de nuestra subvención en cinco regiones del estado la cual esta manejando el tema de evitar el consumo de alcohol por los menores de edad en las comunidades latinas en Dalton, Carrollton, Savannah, Valdosta y Norcross.

Carla Uribe ha sido promovida a Coordinadora de Tecnología y ahora se hace cargo de todas las funciones de nuestro departamento de tecnología.

ACHIEVEMENTS DURING THE YEAR 2014

Suicide Prevention Program Coordinator

2014 was a great year for me and for the suicide prevention program that CETPA, Inc. has under its care. The effort to work most of the previous year trying in many ways to give the information needed for someone to listen at the schools was worth it. I thought if at least one of the schools gave me the opportunity to show them how good this program is I would be able to show how much it would help their students. I firmly believe that everything that happens in our lives and in our environment happens for a reason and what comes after is much better than expected. Relying on this, I continued working, getting help from people who I would have never imagined. People who work in other organizations with similar interests to ours and somehow got connected with us. With the unconditional support of these people (Gwinnett Suicide Prevention Coalition, the Office of Advisement and Counseling- Gwinnett County, etc.) I had a stronger desire to continue working and achieve the goal that this Suicide Prevention Grant required to continue operating.

After receiving the help, hints and tips, I worked on creating a new presentation of suicide prevention. After that, I got the invitation of the coordinator of Advisement and Counseling Office to make a presentation of Sources of Strength Program at "Middle School Lead Counselor Meeting" Gwinnett County. This participation was beautiful because the new information presented impact many of them. Thanks to this event, achieves arouse interest on our program.

The beauty was that by August 1, 2014 when the New Year Contract 2014-2015 starts, I already had the numbers of schools that the Grant required to work. I really feel very happy of my work in CETPA, Inc. and above all have a good relationship with the School's Counselors with whom I work. They have welcomed the program and are excited to work with us.

LOGROS DURANTE EL AÑO 2014

Quiero expresar que el año 2014 ha sido un año excelente para mí y para el programa de prevención de suicidio que CETPA, Inc. tiene bajo su cuidado. Valió la pena el esfuerzo de trabajar casi todo el año anterior, intentando de muchas maneras, hacer llegar la información precisa para que alguien me escuche. Pensaba si al menos una de las escuelas me diera la oportunidad de demostrarle que este programa es muy bueno y que ayudaría mucho a jóvenes en las escuelas. Yo creo firmemente, que todo lo que pasa en nuestras vidas y en nuestro entorno tiene una razón de ser y que lo que viene después es mucho mejor de lo que esperábamos. Confiada en esto, continué trabajando, recibiendo ayuda de personas que jamás me hubiera imaginado. Personas quienes trabajan en otras organizaciones con intereses similares a la nuestra y que de alguna forma estamos conectados. Con la ayuda incondicional de estas personas (Gwinnett Suicide Prevention Coalition, The Office of Advisement and Counseling- Gwinnett County, etc.) tuve más deseos de seguir trabajando y lograr la meta que el Subsidio de Prevención de Suicidio requiere para seguir operando.

Luego de recibir la ayuda, sugerencias y consejos, trabaje en crear una nueva presentación del programa de prevención de suicidio. Después de esto, recibí la invitación de la coordinadora de Advisement and Counseling Office, para hacer una presentación del Programa de SOS en la reunión de consejeros de las escuelas "Middle School" del Condado de Gwinnett. Esta participación fue hermosa porque la nueva información presentada impacto a muchos de ellos. Gracias a esto, logre despertar el interés sobre nuestro programa.

Lo bello fue que para Agosto 01, 2014 que se inicia el nuevo ano del Contrato 2014-2015, ya tenía las escuelas requeridas para trabajar. Realmente me siento muy contenta de mi trabajo en CETPA, Inc. y sobre todo tener una buena relación con las Consejeras en las escuelas que trabajo. Ellos han recibido positivamente el programa y están muy contentos de trabajar con nosotros.
