The National Latino/a Psychological Association(www.nlps.ws) has honored Dr. Pierluigi Mancini, CETPA's Founder and CEO, with the Star Vega Distinguished Service Award for 2014. This award is conferred upon a psychologist who has distinguished him or herself through service to the Latina/o community. The award is named in honor and memory of Dr. Star Vega, Practitioner, Professor of Psychology, and advocate for all psychologists. Dr. Vega died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the young age of 55 of Leukemia.

 

The awards committee acknowledged Dr. Mancini's contributions to psychological education and training, science, practice, and organizational change in order to advance the health, mental health, and well-being of Hispanic/Latina/o populations. It also acknowledge Dr. Mancini's vision of establishing a Latino centered psychological center where staff, clients and families could find affordable, culturally and linguistically competent psychological intervention and prevention services. And the fact that his dream, under his stewardship, would grow into the innovative, holistic and healthy organization that CETPA is today.

 

Dr. Mancini expressed his gratitude to NLPA, Dr. Delgado-Romero from the University of Georgia who nominated him, CETPA's dedicated staff who make it all happen and his family for their unconditional support for the past fifteen years.

La Asociación Nacional de Psicología Latina (www.nlps.ws) ha honrado al Dr. Pierluigi Mancini, fundador y director ejecutivo de CETPA, con el Premio Star Vega por Servicio Distinguido del 2014. Este premio se confiere a un psicólogo que se ha distinguido a través de servicio a la comunidad Latina. El premio lleva el nombre en honor y memoria de la Doctora Star Vega, psicóloga, profesora de Psicología, y abogadora por todos los psicólogos. La Dra. Vega falleció el sábado, 24 de abril del 2004 a los 55 años debido a leucemia.

 

El comité de premiación reconoció las contribuciones del Dr. Mancini a la educación psicológica y la formación, la ciencia, la práctica y el cambio organizativo con el fin de mejorar la salud, la salud mental y el bienestar de la comunidad Latina. También reconoció la visión del Dr. Mancini de establecer un centro psicológico Latino donde el personal, los clientes y las familias podrían encontrar servicios económicos de intervención psicológica y servicios de prevención. Y también reconocieron el hecho de que su sueño, bajo su dirección, se convertiría en la organización innovadora, integral y saludable que CETPA es hoy.

 

El Dr. Mancini agradeció al comité de NLPA, al Dr. Delgado-Romero de la Universidad de Georgia, quien lo nominó, al personal dedicado de CETPA quienes son los responsables por los éxitos de la clinica y a su familia por su apoyo incondicional durante los últimos quince años.
