CETPA's Prevention Program Receives Award

On Friday, March 7th, the CETPA Prevention Team lead by Michelle Baroni, CPS, Prevention Clubhouse Director receive an award for their contribution an participation in the 2013 Red Ribbon Week campaign. This is the 7th year in a row that CETPA is honored.

El viernes 7 de marzo, el Equipo de Prevención CETPA dirigido por la Directora del Club de Prevención, Michelle Baroni, CPS, recibió un premio por su contribución y participación en la campaña de la Semana de la Cinta Roja del 2013.  Este es el séptimo año consecutivo en que CETPA es premiado.

Recovery Support Clubhouse: Five years and counting

Dream'rs Clubhouse celebrated its fifth anniversary with a special ceremony. We heard testimonies of youth members and parents that have participated in the program, we then watched a short home-made film created by former and current clubhouse members, and enjoy

ed of an exquisite feast.

We are delighted that more than 200 teens have participated in this program and have made significant changes in their lives; some are now assisting college, or working hard to meet their needs. Others are finishing high school, and some are still fighting to find the path that would lead them away from drugs and bad influences.

During these past five years we have had the opportunity to enjoy over 300 field trips, worked on dozens of projects and have interacted with many speakers who have left us with valuable lessons.

We are privileged to have a passionate team of professionals, whom together with other CETPA team members, work very hard to help our youth fulfill their dreams, obtain their high school diploma, have fewer problems with the law and society, enjoy healthier family relationships and make better decisions everyday.

5th Year Anniversary Celebration

Clubhouse  de Apoyo  a la Recuperación: Cinco años y contando

Dream'rs Clubhouse celebró su quinto aniversario con una ceremonia especial. Escuchamos testimonios de los jóvenes miembros y padres que han participado en el programa, vimos un cortometraje hecho por los miembros antiguos y actuales del Clubhouse y disfrutamos de un exquisito banquete.

Estamos encantados de que más de 200 adolescentes que han pasado por este programa han hecho cambios significativos en sus vidas, y ahora van a la universidad o trabajan duro para satisfacer sus necesidades. Otros están terminando la escuela secundaria, y algunos todavía están luchando para encontrar el camino que los llevará lejos de las drogas y las malas influencias.

Durante estos últimos cinco años hemos tenido la oportunidad de disfrutar de más de 300 paseos, trabajar en decenas de proyectos e interactuar con muchos instructores que nos han dejado valiosas enseñanzas.

Tenemos el privilegio de contar con un grupo de personal apasionado y dedicado que junto a otros profesionales de CETPA trabajan duro para ayudar a nuestros jóvenes a cumplir sus sueños, obtener su diploma de escuela secundaria , tener menos problemas con la ley y la sociedad, disfrutar de  relaciones familiares saludables y tomar mejores decisiones cada día.

GenRx in Callaway Gardens

In the month of March, The Gen Rx staff had the opportunity to conduct a workshop  about the process of our initiative at the 9^th Annual Georgia Summit on Youth Issues, that took place at Callaway Gardens.

Krystal Lokkesmoe, the Project Coordinator, was in charge of  presenting  in front of 30 people. Through a Power Point presentation she walked the participants through the entire process beginning with the work done in our Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). Krystal also shared important data that we have collected from the Hispanic community.  In addition, Krystal showed pictures of different events held in the community, a television interview made by Telemundo television network last month, shared a copy of the newspaper article written by Mundo Hispanico and finally, parts of the bilingual documentary CETPA is developing about the problem of the prescription drugs. The presentation was truly a successful event.  Thank you Krystal, I am very happy you are on the Gen Rx team at CETPA.

GenRx en Callaway Gardens

En el mes de marzo, el personal Gen Rx tuvo la oportunidad de realizar un taller sobre el proceso de nuestra iniciativa en la 9 ª Cumbre Anual de Georgia en materia de juventud, que tuvo lugar en Callaway Gardens.

Krystal Lokkesmoe, la coordinadora del proyecto, fue la encargada de presentar frente a 30 personas. Ella mostró un Power Point con todo el proceso, desde su inicio con SPF. También se incluyen los datos importantes de su fundación en la comunidad hispana. Además, mostró imágenes de diferentes eventos con la comunidad, una copia del artículo de prensa escrito por Mundo Hispánico, y por último, las partes del documental bilingue CETPA está haciendo sobre el problema de la medicamentos recetados. La presentación fue un evento exitoso. Como directora me siento muy orgullosa de tener un gran personal.

Emotional Intelligence group

On February 18, 2014 CETPA started an Emotional Intelligence group for middle school kids. It is a 6 wk program that is running off of the curriculum "Strong Kids." It is meant to teach kids what emotional intelligence is and how to become more aware of their own feelings, label them as comfortable or uncomfortable, and how to express these feelings in a way that is appropriate versus going off of a reaction to the situation. The curriculum also stresses the importance of understanding that everyone reacts differently to emotionally charged situations and teaches how to respect others reactions as well.

Grupo de Intenligencia Emocional

El 18 de Febrero del presente CETPA comenzó un grupo de Inteligencia Emocional para los niños de escuela intermedia. Esto se trata de un programa de 6 semanas que se ejecuta fuera del plan de estudios "Strong Kids". Tiene el propósito de enseñar a los niños qué es la inteligencia emocional y cómo llegar a ser más conscientes de sus propios sentimientos, etiquetarlos como cómodo o incómodo, y aprender la forma de expresar estos sentimientos de una manera que sea apropiada en lugar de ir fuera de una reacción a la situación. El programa también hace hincapié en la importancia de entender que cada persona reacciona de manera diferente a las situaciones con carga emocional y enseña a respetar a las reacciones de los demás también.
