True story. Yesterday I was speaking with a client about next week's Summit and she said she was both excited and "nervous" about it.
Excitement I understood, but her being nervous threw me for a loop.
"Why on earth would you be nervous?" I asked.
"Well," she answered, "I LOVE all the ideas and strategies I pick up, but I'm worried about getting TOO MUCH information and not being able to implement it all!"
I got it. Even the best strategies are completely useless if they aren't implemented. As the poster-child for ADHD (yes, I've been professionally diagnosed, no I don't take medication), I have tons of great ideas... but not always the follow through to get them executed.
I'm also - strangely - a (recovering) perfectionist, and though I know that perfection is the enemy of progress*, it's really hard to press "GO" when you really want to review it "just one more time!!" (i.e., this email). And even though I know it's unrealistic to think I could or should implement everything anyways, I still feel guilty about all the great ideas I leave on the table.
Here's the answer. GET OVER IT!! I know I know. Easier said than done.
Last weekend I went to a conference in Vegas with Eli Davidson (one of our past Summit speakers). I took pages upon pages (upon pages) of notes. A zillion things I COULD do, and felt I SHOULD do... And, of course, I was feeling overwhelmed. Then I had an a-ha! moment. I suddenly realized, I only need ONE BIG idea, and it's okay to have - and discard - a bunch of small ideas. And ONE million-dollar idea was exactly what I got. (BTW - I'll be telling everyone about my million dollar idea on Day 2 of the Summit.)
So remember, it only takes ONE great idea to transform your business. Your job is to find that one idea - or maybe 2 or 3. Certainly not 100. But if you DO get 100, and you DO get overwhelmed, don't worry, I've got you.
We're making prioritization and implementation a main focus at this Summit. We're going to make sure that when you leave, you know where the low-hanging fruit is, where to immediately focus your time and attention to achieve the maximum ROI from your attendance.
We're even offering a post-summit Day 3 Money Mastermind on November 15th, specifically designed to identify and prioritize the right strategies, tactics and tools FOR YOUR SITUATION. Needless to say, if you're wondering which ticket to get, this is the one I recommend. Go Platinum.
Okay, stepping DOWN from the soapbox now.
