 I confess. When Jessica Kizorek suggested we submit a Make Them BEG business plan to the Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge, I really, really didn't want to do it.
First of all, it's a lot of work - and I'm really, REALLY busy. And when I'm not REALLY busy, I'm PLAYING - and I like playing. This was going to eat into playtime.
Secondly (and I REALLY hate to admit this), I kinda didn't think we had a chance. There. I said it.
Finally, my BROTHER was submitting too, and truth be told, I didn't want him gloating when HE made it, if I didn't. 'Cause I was pretty sure he'd make it and there's a lifetime of sibling rivalry at work behind the scenes here.
Well, it just goes to show you, I needn't have worried. 1) The work was fun 'cause I'm a spreadsheet geek so it was kind of like play. 2) Our business model and strategy is AWESOME, why WOULDN'T we have a chance? That was just "cucarachas in the head," as my grandmother would have said. And 3) Well, my brother and I are BOTH finalists. So we're even. HA!!
So let this be a lesson - sometimes we are own biggest enemy. We hold ourselves back because of old beliefs, "ways of being" and habits that can prevent us from going after - and getting - what we want. And that's why I'm sharing this victory with you.

Now, I REALLY want to win... but all joking and sibling rivalry aside, I'm also REALLY proud of and impressed by my brother. So, if you're someone who likes doing the "voting thing" then keep in mind you're allowed to vote once a day (not sure the rationale behind that is, but we'll take it), and maybe hook him up with a vote or two :)
