WINTER'S WORK

No hibernating here! Beginning in October SSDTA staff gathers photos, writes copy and produces the pages of our regional visitor guide "Simply South Dakota", our pages of the South Dakota Vacation Guide and regional map. Our member advertisers submit their ads for these publications and the guides are printed and shipped to us in December and February. The winter work keeps us busy but there's much more.
In January we will attend the Tourism Conference in Pierre and present our annual report. We will host our Top Of The Stairs party for our tourism friends and legislators on January 16th.
In February we will have a booth at the Omaha Boat Sport's and Travel Show,
We place advertising in various publications and contract marketing efforts for the coming peak season. In March we hold our annual distribution of visitor guides around the region. And on May 9, 2013, we kick off a new tourism season at the 15th Annual East-River Literature Swap, held at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
You can help with this promotion effort by providing your vacation packages, coupons, and submitting your events all to be placed on the website free. You also have an opportunity to be a partner in the Omaha Boat, Sports & Travel Show with your brochure. See details in this newsletter.

Submit your package here.   or email to jacquie.sesd@iw.net   It's Free!

You just need a lodging property and event or attraction. One phone #, one price.

Put your event on www.southeastsouthdakota.com FREE by clicking on events calendar.

Items Needed for Give-Away Baskets
Visitor Industry Alliance is again raffling baskets, at the Tourism Conference, filled with regional "goodies."  SSDTA is creating at least two baskets filled with hotel room nights, t-shirts, attraction or event tickets, dinner coupons, logo items, SD wine. We need the items here at our office by January 11th.
We are also doing a regional basket of items as a give-away at the Omaha Travel Show in February. Donate something for the basket and we will take your member brochure to hand out at the show.  We will have a sign-up to win and gather names/email to use for marketing.
