Busy?  Need help finding a room? Tell us what you want and our lodging partners will contact you!  We've already been out to their places to review them, met with management and know more about these places than anyone else!  So trust us - just click, "Find Me A Room"!

Here are what a couple of our users have said:
  1. "I really appreciate the videos. I have been staying in Ephraim for years and never knew about the "Ephraim Wetlands Preserve". Since viewing your video, it is on our must visit list this year. Each year we discover something new from watching the videos. Keep up the good work." - Milt

  2. "Door County Navigator was useful in helping us find appropriate lodging and great activities. It is a priceless site for anyone visiting the DC area. We are returning to Door County . . . and once again, I am on Door County Navigator to make our plans! You guys have done a great job on updating the site recently and adding a lot of information and options while maintaining it's "user friendly" navigation. So much more for everyone to see and get a better feel of Door County.

I have to be honest and tell you that I never really knew about all the things there were to do and see in Door County nor did I realize there were so many wonderful types of accommodations.

The accommodation links and descriptions within the "DCN" site are very informative and again, give you a better feel of the Door County environment, dining, shopping and activities, not just for couples but for families as well.

Only after viewing the site and going through the Treasure Map links do I now wish to make Door County a yearly vacation spot." -Catherine Y.

Door County:  From A to Z!

This month's feature: J and K

Thee "Door County: From A to Z" series continues this month more ideas for enjoying the Peninsula. They just happen to start with "J" and "K."

Jacksonsport (and JJ's of Jacksonport, too!): Jacksonport is a Door County lakeside town steeped in farming, logging and commercial fishing history.  People soon found Jacksonport, with its access to Lake Michigan, a prime vacation area and built cottages in the 1920s.  Today, travelers stay at the Square Rigger Lodge and Gallery as well as other lodging properties in Jacksonport.

The root cellar in the Erskine rest area (located at the southwest corner of Hwy. 57 and Cty Rd. V) was the site Egg Harbor Lodge Banner for the Eureka House, an early hotel and post office in Jacksonport. Recently restored, the root cellar kept vegetables, cheese and milk cold for the hotel.

Other historical sites include Jacksonport churches: St. Michael's Church, completed in 1878, Hwy. 57; United Methodist Church, built in early 1890s, Cave Point Dr.; and Episcopal Church, built in the mid-1880s, Cty Rd. V.

Jacksonport celebrates its history and gathers locals and visitors together for activities, music and food at many events throughout the year. Jacksonport is home to Lakeside Park, site for Maifest on May 23 and 24 and the New Year's Day Polar Bear Swim.

Visitors also shop for crafts and antiques in the town's stores.  And don't miss an opportunity to enjoy lunch or dinner at JJ's of Jacksonport.  It offers an upbeat casual atmosphere and a menu with a variety of sandwiches, burgers and Mexican specialties.

Kangaroo Lake (and kayak tours!):  You can enjoy Kangaroo Lake in Baileys Harbor aboard a kayak. Lakeshore Adventures, Baileys Harbor, offers Kangaroo Lake Eco tours in partnership with the Ridges Sanctuary.  The organizers say you may view sandhill cranes, bald eagles, ducks, bats, frogs and turtles while cruising these fresh and calm waters.

The 1,156-acre lake, with a maximum depth of about 12 feet, also affords people access from a public boat landing and public parks.  Many people fish the lake, home to Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye.

  Peninsula Players Announces 2015 Playbill

An evening at the Peninsula Players Theatre is something many people look forward to all year. After all, this is a special venue, set on the shore near Fish Creek. Theater-goers can watch a sunset over the water before heading into the recently reconstructed theater to see one of five plays on this year's schedule.

And during intermission, the woods and garden welcome arts lovers to wander and contemplate all they have heard and seen. Here's an overview of stories the Peninsula Players will perform on stage during the 2015 season: Newport Resort Banner

"A Real Lulu," June 16 to July 5:   This play tells the story of Ned Newley, who knows nothing about politics but still became governor of Vermont.  A political advisor and a pollster try to change him. Or does Ned change them, the Peninsula Players ask.

"Dial M for Murder," July 8 to July 26: By Frederick Knott, "Dial M for Murder" is reportedly an intensive and mesmerizing thriller laced with passion and betrayal.  It's set in 1950s London and tells the story of an ex-tennis professional, Tony, who believes his wife, Margot is having an affair.

"Lend Me a Tenor," July 29 to Aug. 16:  The Peninsula Players ask:  "Is 1934 Cleveland ready for the fiery temper of "Il Stupendo" opera sensation Tito Mereli?  Mayhem ensues when Tito passes out on opening night, and an aspiring singing assistant fills in.

"Outside Mullingar," Aug. 19 to Sept. 6:  This is billed as a "lyrical Irish romantic comedy that reminds us it's never too late to take a chance on love."  Anthony and Rosemary are 40-something neighbors in rural Ireland caught in the middle of a family land dispute. When Anthony's father threatens to disinherit him, Rosemary sees an opportunity for love.

"Nunsense," Sept. 9 to Oct. 18:  The Peninsula Players invite audiences to join Reverend Mother, a former circus performer, and her four remaining sisters as they take on the eighth grade production of "Grease" and stage a variety show.

Here are some Door County Happenings!

The Ephraim Inn is being reconstructed after a fire affected the business in December 2013. New accommodations are anticipated to open in July or August, and a new name for the inn is planned.

Holey Cow is a new business offering doughnuts and ice cream in Sturgeon Bay.  It's located on the lower level of Scandinavian Lodge Banner Sonny's Italian Kitchen and Pizzeria, 129 N. Madison and has promoted build-your-own doughnuts and ice cream desserts.

Coun's C Club, Brussels, has new owners and has been renamed Marnie's Supper Club and Banquet Hall.

Also under new ownership is The Healthy Way in Sturgeon Bay.  The new owner reportedly plans expansion of organic food offerings, continuing supplements and is changing the name slightly to Healthy Way of Door County.

Many businesses that were closed over the winter have now reopened. Included in Ellison Bay is The Viking Grill.

The fourth annual Door County Beer Festival will take place June 20 at Baileys Harbor Town Hall Park.
