Perhaps you need to change up your visit to Door County - just a tad. Have all roads stopped at Ephraim? Or even Egg Harbor? Travel further north to a land dubbed Door County North, and find more places rich in arts, nature and entrepreneurial spirit.
We recently caught up with Kathleen Pearson, Door County North community coordinator, who is responsible for marketing the area, coordinating events and more.

Ellison Bay, Gills Rock, Rowleys Bay, the north end of Sister Bay and the Highway 57 corridor from Sister Bay to Baileys Harbor.
Q. Why should people visit?
Kathleen: In addition to a growing artist community, outstanding restaurants, water activities, silent sports, education and a variety of shops, there are 14 beautiful parks:
Newport State Park is known for its beauty and quietness along with a beautiful sandy beach.
Two county parks-Ellison Bluff and Door Bluff-offer spectacular views and hiking.
The Ellison Bay beach has a tennis court, gazebo and a building for parties.

Q. What makes Door County North unique?
Kathleen: We are not just a village. We offer more natural areas than anywhere else in Door County. Silent
sports such as biking, hiking, birding and kayaking are very popular.
Ellison Bay has The Clearing founded by Jens Jensen, which offers a wide variety of adult educational opportunities. In addition, the Savory Spoon Cooking School is located in downtown Ellison Bay, and Camp Zion holds retreats for children and adults.

Rowleys Bay features a wonderful marina with boat launch, along with the Rowleys Bay Resort and Wagon Wheel Campground. It is a truly peaceful area.
