Take "A Peek Inside the Door(sm)" this month with:
Edgewood Orchard Galleries.

Edgewood Orchard Galleries, 4140 Peninsula Players Rd., Fish Creek, is regarded by many as one of the Midwest's finest galleries. It was established in 1969 and showcases art by more than 100 artists working in painting, sculpture, glass, wood, clay and jewelry.
The setting is as intriguing as the art itself. Edgewood Orchard Galleries sits on 80 acres. Art is shown on two levels of a repurposed 1918 fruit barn.
Customers can park on a large grassy field and then wander through the sculpture garden before entering the lovely airy and well-lit gallery.
Navigator News(tm) recently talked with owners Nell and J.R. Jarosh about Edgewood Orchard Galleries and what's new for 2013.
Q. What are some of the highlights of the 2013 season?
Nell: We're starting the season with a group show called, "Inspired."
J. R. We told the artists about the show, "Inspired" and they are working on pieces now for the show. And when we open up on May 4, it will be a fun day. People like to come back and see us. We have been closed six months (Edgewood Orchard Galleries is open May through October).
Q. What do you look for in choosing art for Edgewood Orchard Galleries? Nell: My mom (Anne Emerson) and her mother (Irene Haberland) started the gallery in 1969.I was there my whole life and lived in Philadelphia for a while and moved back when I was in my early twenties. And I fell back in love with Door County.
What do I look for in choosing art? I know when I love something. When we we're trying to find new artists for the gallery, we look for quality and also we want to make sure it is not too close to something we already show. Q. What more makes Edgewood Galleries unique?
Nell:I want people to feel welcome. Because of that I often hear people say, "I come here before I even check into my hotel. I just couldn't drive by." That is such an honor.
J.R. Art lovers are really kind people. And we are blessed to have wonderful friends and art lovers who have helped keep the gallery gong for almost 45 years.
