Scandinavian Lodge nicely blends Door County heritage with today's conveniences.

 

Located at 10506 Hwy. 57 in Sister Bay, Scandinavian Lodge offers d�cor true to Door County's Scandinavian's history. Included in the lobby are decorative wood trolls. Each room's entryway is adorned with bright scrollwork, and some interiors continue a Swedish or Norwegian look.

 

This is a large condominium-hotel open year-round. It offers guests-honeymooners, families, couples-four typesScandinavian Lodge Banner  of rooms from which to choose: romantic suites, one-bedroom suites, two-bedroom suites and three-bedroom suites.

 

The condos and suites are spacious and outfitted with gas fireplaces and Jacuzzi whirlpools. Amenities also include fully equipped kitchens, king-size beds, new sofa sleepers and sitting chairs, cable TV/DVD players and free wireless Internet.

 

There's an indoor pool as well as a fitness center and game room.

 

Scandinavian Lodge has a winter special running Nov. 4 through Jan. 31. When you stay two nights, you receive a $25 restaurant gift card, or you can stay three nights and obtain a free night. When you stay four nights, you earn a free night and a $25 restaurant gift card.

 White Gull Inn Dinner Concert Series

White Gull Inn, another fine place to stay in Door County indeed, has announced its winter into spring dinner concert series.

C
oncerts (tickets cost $16) take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday evenings at White Gull Inn, 4225 Main St., FishParkwood Lodge 2010 banner  Creek. Coming early for the 6 p.m. dinner is optional (cost is an additional $19.95).
 

Coming soon to the White Gull dining room Dec. 5 is Peter Mulvey, a Milwaukee native and national folk artist.
 

On Jan. 16, Kelly Joe Phelps, a roots slide guitar artist hailing from the Pacific Northwest, plays.

hen, the Sweet Lowdown, a female old-time trio fromBridgeport Waterfront Resort   Vancouver, B.C. performs Feb. 27.

L
ooking to the spring, Carolyn Martin, an old Western swing musician, will be at White Gull March 20.  On April 17, the Stray Birds, a Pennsylvania-based traditional acoustic folk trio, plays.

Here are some recent Door County Happenings!

 Newport Resort Banner

Local business owners are moving ahead to establish a new microbrewery, the Door County Brewing Co., at 2434 Cty. F in  Baileys Harbor. This is the location of the old grocery store.  

 

Northern Door County businesses are cutting back on business hours for the winter. For example, The Viking Grill in Ellison Bay is now open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The restaurant is closed Mondays, Tuesdays The Shallows Resort Banner  and Wednesdays.  The Shoreline Restaurant closed Nov. 10 until the spring.  Greens N Grains Caf� in Egg Harbor will serve food from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily all winter. Also the Greens N Grains Natural Foods store will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

 

Egg Harbor will kick off the Christmas season Nov. 23-24 with Breakfast with Santa, an elf hunt for children, "mistle dough" shopping contest, a tree lighting and caroling and horse-drawn wagon rides.
