Dear Friends,

God/dess willing, in a few days weeks I will pass a milestone in my life - my 50th birthday. I remember when my mother turned 50, and back then she seemed ancient to me.

Yes, the perspective changed now that I am older - suddenly 50 seems young! And at the same time I am determined to stay vibrant and young at heart, to take care of my body and celebrate myself as a Goddess with an amazing array of skills, talents and experiences.

Steve often says in our workshops that the fountain of youth is not to be found in some swamp in Florida, as Ponce de León had thought, but that it is located in our first chakra, at the base of our spine. When I activate my energy, stay grounded and relaxed in my body and connect with every moment in fullness and awareness, I am truly ageless. Cultivating my very own fountain of youth helps me to rejoice in the fact that I am turning 50.

In tantric practice we create spaces of timelessness where we are in touch with our essence, the mysterious part of us that never dies. We become ageless.

Bruce Willis so famously said that "40 is the new 30" (or was it, "50 is the new 40"?).

Hey, I happily declare that "50 IS THE NEW 50"

Sending smiles to you.

The Beauty of Tantric Ritual: Inside & Outside the Bedroom

by Christina de Jongh, certified SkyDancing Tantra Presenter

Lately I have been going to big networking events. I noticed that I have been having a hard time staying present and connecting with the other people in the room. At first I felt really bad about myself for the incapacity to be fully in my energy; I even assumed that there was something wrong with me!

The next event I attended was a "puja", a Tantra gathering where connections are being facilitated, we honor Divine Presence in each other and meet as Gods and Goddesses, take the time to be present and connected with each other. Here, I felt so at home and easily and deeply connected to each person in the room. The contrast between these two events gave me an important realization why I so appreciate tantric ritual in my life.

Ritual serves to raise the quality of connection between us human beings. If we were music, we would ordinarily live as single tones, each one of us feels all special and worthy to be heard. When we are together with others, this "competition" can lead to chaos and cacophony: one voice sounding even louder than the other, without listening, nor resonating. Like in an orchestra, it takes a conductor to create a beautiful harmony, a musical piece that is bigger and more beautiful than the sum of the individual tones. It takes a ritual to invite us to consciously connect with each other, resonate together, and become bigger than all of our individual voices.

That to me is the beauty of ritual. Practicing a series of specific gestures, like bowing to each other, honoring each other. Or giving each other praise and appreciation, or sharing an intention - such activities raise the vibration of our time together. It brings out the best in us. It invites us to be a gift to one another, it can be fun and humorous, delicious and joyful.

Since I realized this, I have been preparing more consciously for networking. I connect with others more directly by looking into their eyes, taking time to relate consciously with them. I bring appreciation to the others in the room, and see them as Gods and Goddesses.  And yes, I have been having a lot more fun and am more effective while making contacts with others!

Tantra is very precious to me, and it has enriched my life incredibly; and I see it in others, too. By using small rituals, Tantra brings sacredness to our daily life and to the way we connect with each other inside and outside the bedroom. I apply these principles also in my coaching sessions, when I support my clients in improving the communication in their relationships, whether they are single and looking for the right partner or a couple looking to raise the quality of their connection.
