Greetings!

We hope you are enjoying the wonderful Fall weather.  It's a good time to enjoy the great outdoors with your dog and all the parks and trails our area has to offer.

We're delighted to share with you a story about one of our training students that is featured in the October edition of Dog Fancy magazine, and we offer advice on how to overcome fear issues and build confidence in dogs.  Article is below.

We're making some changes to our Levels classes to accommodate the rise in puppy enrollment by adding a second puppy class this month. Read on for full details and other changes as well as important reminders below.

We have only a few more classes scheduled for the remainder of this year, including a new City Walks class that starts later this month.  Learn more about this class and how we are taking the classroom outdoors - before it gets too cold.  Also, we are busy working on our January Winter schedule and should have it ready sometime later this month.

We also want to give a shout out to our Assistant Trainer, Dave who will be getting married next weekend and taking some time off from teaching to enjoy his honeymoon.  Congratulations!  We are also excited to welcome back our Assistant Trainer Jackie who will be returning from a month long adventurous hike in Africa!  We can't wait to hear all about her travels.

Happy Training!

losed Fur-Get Me Not's offices, dog daycare, and training school will be closed Columbus Day weekend from Saturday, October 6 through Monday, October 8.

All dog training classes will be cancelled during this time. This includes our Puppy and Tween Socials on Saturday morning.

We hope you enjoy the Fall weekend and have a fun time with your dog!
A Success Story Published in Dog Fancy Magazine
One of our training students was interviewed by Dog Fancy magazine on her success integrating a fearful rescue into urban life.  Antoinette DiVittorio adopted Ollie, a Boxer/Rhodesian Ridgeback, from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue 1.5 years ago.

Antoinette first enrolled Ollie in our Levels program.  We did a private lesson in home and she brought him back to the classroom for a Recalls workshop and Confidence Building classes.  It's been a long journey and she continues to help Ollie become more empowered each day.  We applaud Antoinette's devotion and commitment to helping Ollie live a more fulfilling life.

Read about her story and our advice on how to overcome fear and build confidence in this month's October edition of Dog Fancy magazine.
Levels Program Announcements
megaphone Our puppy socials have grown and have become very popular.  We want to remind puppy owners that these socials are for dogs less than 6 months of age and are limited to the first 15 dogs.  Students enrolled in our Puppy Levels program are given priority but please remember to arrive on time.  Puppy Socials begin at 9am, the first 15 dogs are welcome to attend.  Come January, we will open a second puppy social to accommodate interest.  More details coming soon.

Tween socials begin next weekend, October 13.  These will be at 8am on Saturdays.  So if you attend our puppy socials, please wait in the lobby or in front of the building until all the Tween social dogs have left the training area.

We've experienced a surge in registrations for our Puppy Levels classes.  Because of this, we have decided to open a second Puppy class.  Beginning October 17th, Puppy classes will be held on Wednesdays at 6:30pm and Thursdays at 7:30pm.  They will be the same block, so if you decide to attend both nights, you will be working on the same behaviors both nights.

We also want to remind students that you will receive a graduation notice via email, when you have graduated to the next level.
Graduation notices are sent out on Mondays by noon. If you do not receive this email, you should continue to attend the level that you are currently at.  It is very important that students only attend the level they are currently enrolled, to help us manage our classroom sizes.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Vivian at trainer@furgetmenot.com
Have you tried our City Walks class?
Are you looking for more challenging ways to work on your dog's attention and manners around distractions?  City Walks class is a great opportunity for this.  Next class begins October 30.

We tend to focus most of our training at home with not enough practice outdoors on our walks, or in new places like at a pet store, while dining at an outdoor café, or while walking through a crowd.  Some dogs can easily get overwhelmed when taken to new places.  Each new environment presents a challenge for the dog.

To better understand why, let's think about the home environment.  Unless you have guests over daily, this setting is fairly predictable and offers little distraction to your dog.  This is why it is the perfect setting to begin your training.  In this setting, dogs are also more interested in what we are doing and may follow us around the house.  They seek out our attention because we offer them stimulation and rewards by providing affection, food, treats, praise, toys, play, etc.  We are what makes the home environment lively and exciting.

Sunday, October 28 @ 10am (puppy full)
Sunday, November 11 @ 10am

FREE Puppy Social held every Saturday at 9am

These are popular events, please understand only the first 15 puppies will be admitted.  We define puppies as dogs ages 6 months or less and all puppies must have been seen by their new family's vet at least once to ensure a clean bill of health and 2-3 rounds of age appropriate vaccinations have taken place.

Tween Social held Saturdays at 9am

For dogs 6 months to 2 years of age. This is the time period where your dog is progressing from puppyhood to adulthood. It is a time when the physical energy level is at its peak but the mental maturity is still very much lacking! We offer a safe place for young dogs to explore boundaries and come into their own. In the meantime, we will teach you what to look for in order to ensure a successful play experience for your dog as well as equip you with the skill set you need to make sure you continue to support your dog to develop healthy social skills. Only Fur-Get Me Not Training clients may enroll. Registration is required.
