NEW This Year at New England Grows! Online Certificate of Attendance
Beginning this year, attendees can visit the New England Grows website after the show and download personalized Certificates of Attendance. Your certificate will indicate all the sessions you attended at which you were scanned. This is an efficient way for you to track your CEU credits. Picking up paper verification after a session is no longer necessary. Here's how the new CEU system will work:
* Provide your continuing education credit and/or license information when you register.
* Your badge will be scanned when you enter a session that is approved for credit. Plan to arrive before the session starts to ensure that your badge is scanned.
* After the conference, attendance data is sent to the appropriate pesticide program, or accrediting organization.
* Your customized Certificate of Attendance confirms your participation in sessions at which your badge was scanned. It will be available online at at no charge until May 30, 2013 (you will receive an email notification prompting you when this information is ready for download). After that date, a $25.00 administrative fee will be assessed.

News from Around New England
Floral Industry of Connecticut, the Nation & the World Responds to Newtown Tragedy
CNLA's Executive Director Bob Heffernan, who also leads the Connecticut Florists Association (CFA), worked to coordinate the flow of flowers and volunteer floral designers for the outpouring of grief following the Sandy Hook School massacre last month. With only one florist in Newtown, Bob knew it would be an unprecedented challenge in managing a huge demand for flowers from mourners shocked by the loss. An appeal by CFA went viral across the world, resulting in more than 75 designers willing to volunteer, and the shipment and donation of more than 700 cases of cut flowers that landed in front of Newtown Florist. The flowers came from all over the U.S., South America, and Europe. Bob set up inside the flower shop where teams helped design the hundreds of floral pieces, while others made deliveries, and still more processed and conditioned the cut flowers. Emotions ran high as the Newtown Florist staff and volunteers often put in 16-hour days to manage the task. Congratulations to Bob and all those involved in the heart-felt and herculean effort!
