Fired Up

Insurance Service Organization (ISO) Mitigation is an analytical organization that gathers information about proper risk management in public and private organizations. One of their main programs is the Public Protection Classification. This is when an analyst from ISO visits a municipality and rates their protectiveness against fire on a scale from 1-5, with 1 being the best.  A community's investment in fire mitigation is a proven and reliable predictor of future fire losses.

The City of Kingsburg was recently inspected by an ISO analyst and they increased our rating from a 4 to a 3!  This upgrade can assist with reduced homeowner insurance and also quantifies the efforts being made by the City's Fire Department and Water Department, which keeps fire suppression equipment up to standards.
Welcome to the Force!
The Kingsburg City Council welcomed Police Officer Nissi Robledo-Lopez as a new full-time police officer during their August 3 meeting.  Nissi had served the department as a Level I Reserve since 2015, and was hired full time in June.

Prior to his work with Kingburg, Ofc. Robledo served in the US Army four years active duty includying a combat deployment in Iraq as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.  He still serves as part of the Army National Guard. Nissi has his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice
and is currently pursing his Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership.  Welcome aboard, Nissi!

Monthly Water Totals

The Monthly Water Consumption Totals are in for the month of July and yet again, the City did well! Between July 2013 and July 2016 the City has cut back on water consumption by nearly 25%. Great job, and thank you to everyone for making sacrifices to lower our water consumption!

The City would also like to remind you that there are still restrictions for when you can water your lawns. To avoid penalties, please refer to the water guidelines for your address' specific watering day and time.
Car Hacked

A message from KPD!  Houston PD believe that there may be a new way to steal cars, using a laptop.  The thief doesn't hot wire the car or use any other conventional ways of car jacking. Instead the thief pulls out a laptop and after a few minutes he is able to start the car and drive away.

Police believe that the man has found a way to hack into the car's computer, marrying a key to the car's ignition system, and start the car from there. HPD has stated that Jeep Cherokees and Wranglers, years 2010 and up, have been stolen using this technique. No other makes, models, or years were reported stolen via this technique.
This Week in History

On August 2, 1990, at about 2 a.m. Iraqi forces invade Kuwait, a small, but very oil-rich neighbor to Iraq. Due to their size the Kuwaiti forces were quickly wiped out and those who weren't destroyed fled to Saudi Arabia. By taking this small country, Iraq suddenly was in control of 20 percent of the world's oil reserves and had gained a portion of the Persian Gulf coastline, a key strategic point in the area. That same day the U.N. Security Council unanimously denounced the invasion and demanded Iraq's immediate withdrawal. After several days of non-compliance by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, Operation Desert Shield sent American troops to defend Saudi Arabia. After several months of non-compliance the U.N. gave Hussein until January 15, 1991 to completely withdrawal from Kuwait. On January 16, at 4:30 p.m. EST, the U.S.-led Operation Desert Storm began to liberate Kuwait.

After the Sale
When you have a yard sale please be sure to remove all signs of your event after it is over. Sale signs left on utility poles and public signs cause clutter and often become litter if left up.
