Catch Them All
Pokemon Go is a free smart phone app/game that takes the player on a journey through the world of Pokemon while walking through the real world. The object of the game is for the player to walk around the world around them and catch the various Pokemon that appear through the augmented reality of the game.

Since the game's intention is to get players up and walking outside, and often into unfamiliar neighborhoods and areas, a reminder to players to be alert at all times and to stay aware of your surroundings. Also, please be courteous of where you are catching Pokemon and where you are pointing your phone to catch them. Often times it appears that you are taking pictures of someone, their house, their car, etc. when in reality you are just trying to catch a Growlith. Be respectful of public and private property.  Going onto private property without the owner's permission is considered trespassing. This includes front yards, and especially back or side yards.

Curfew for those under the age of 16 is 10:00 P.M. and under 18 11:00 P.M.  Finally, please do not Pokemon and drive! No Pokemon is worth a life.

Stay safe, stay aware, and catch them all!
Kingsburg YLA

Then tell them about the Youth Leadership Academy. Here they will learn about and discuss current issues as well as how to combat tobacco, underage drinking, and unhealthy eating and on how to be the change that they want to see in the world.  The trip is August 2-4 at Camp Sierra in Big Creek, and participants will make an easy $100 to attend!

All applications must be turned in to your school counselor ASAP! If you have any questions or concerns please contact Bao Moua at (559) 255-3300 or at bmoua@yli.org.

the A/C and your energy bills are likely skyrocketing. If you are looking into lowering your energy bill and becoming more energy efficient you may want to look into the Hero Program. Hero is a home improvement financing entity that works with local governments to get you the best solution to your energy needs. Approval for the program is based off of your home equity and not your credit score, like most loans are. Also the already low interest rates may be tax deductible. Go online or call 855-HERO-411 to see if your home qualifies.

This Week in History

On July 13, 1985, Prince Charles and Princess Diana officially open Live Aid at Wembley Stadium in London. Live Aid was a worldwide rock concert to raise money for famine stricken countries and communities in Africa. The show continued in JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, Wembley Stadium was just the first location the concert occurred. The 16-hour long "superconcert" was globally linked through satellites and brought to over a billion viewers in 110 different nations and was able to raise $125 million. Live Aid was the brain child of Irish rock singer Bob Geldof, whom was devastated when he traveled to Ethiopia and saw the effects of the famine in the country that had already killed hundreds of thousands of people and threatened to kill millions more. He then called together Ireland's and Britain.s top pop singers to make the Ethiopian relief song "Do They Know It's Christmas?"
