We also have Movies in the Park!  Our next offering is Saturday, June 25, at Memorial Park, starting at 8:30 p.m. with the playing of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Join us for several throughout the year.

Weeds Among Us

A friendly reminder that it is the property owner's responsibility to keep the alleyways behind their property clear of weeds, trash, low hanging trees, and other debris. This is to make it easy for services, like garbage removal, to be completed. Overgrown weeds are also a fire hazard and with the summer heat kicking in, fire is more of a risk. So, please be safe and be courteous to your neighbors and keep your alleyways clear.
Firework Funds

It's that time of  the year!  Did you know that all firework stands within City limits are permitted by the City before they open for business? These stands are all run by local non-profit organizations such as Kingsburg Ag Boosters, Kingsburg Youth Cheer, and Kings's Tabernacle Church, just to name a few. The stands act as a fundraiser for the non-profits that run them.

The permitting process for these stands is very strict and includes a license from the City and the State Fire Marshall, as well as permission from the property owner of where the stand is located.  So feel confident that your purchases are going to a great local cause!
Construction on California

The scheduled construction on California St. will begin on
Monday, June 27, and is scheduled to last approximately 5 weeks.  Work will include both infrastructure and asthetic improvements on Draper and California, as well as pedestrian improvements in front of the Historic Train Depot.  Please use caution when entering any construction zone.  All businesses will remain open and accessible through the duration of the construction.

This Week in History

On June 21, 1788, New Hampshire became the ninth and final necessary state to ratify the Constitution of the United Sates, making it the official and supreme law of the land. In 1786 cracks in the original Articles of Confederation, such as a complete lack of a centralized authority over commerce, began to show their face. And so, Congress decided to begin drafting a new constitution for their new nation and on May 25, 1787, the Constitutional Convention was held. After three months of debating and arguing, the new Constitution, which included a federal government and a network of checks and balances within it, was signed by 38 of the 41 delegates present. Although signed it would not become binding until it was ratified by at least nine of the thirteen states, which happened on this day, 228 years ago.
