Contain the Contamination

Mid Valley Disposal will be conducting a contamination program check in the City of Kingsburg between Monday, May 23, and Friday, May 27. Their specially trained staff will be inspecting green waste and recycling bins for unacceptable materials. If unacceptable materials are found in one of the bins a notice will be placed either on the bin or on the resident's front door.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Mid Valley Disposal Recycling Department at 559-567-0520.
Water Conservation

State officials have effectively ended the mandatory conservation rates required by individual jurisdictions.  Although the mandates have been lifted, Kingsburg's guidelines remain in effect for the time being.  City Council will hold a discussion about future City policy during their June 1 regular meeting.

Individual jurisdictions will be required to "self certify" to determine the appropriate level of conservation for their particular utility.  More information will be available as staff evaluates the new regulations.
This Week in History

On May 19, 1935, the retired Royal Air Force mechanic named Thomas Lawrence died from the injuries he received from a motorcycle accident a week prior to his death. Thomas was better known to the world as Lawrence of Arabia, and gained notoriety for being a war hero, author, and an archaeological scholar. Lawrence studied archaeology for most of his life and did extensive studies and expeditions in Syria, Palestine, Arabia, and Egypt. His work became priceless intelligence when the Ottoman Empire and England began in October of 1914. During the war he was assigned as an intelligence officer in Cairo, where he aided Arabian rebels against the ottoman Empire. After the war ended he turned down several medals and high-ranking positions to enlist in the Royal Air Force under a false name, just so he could return to Arabia to finish his studies.
