Warm Weather Watering

Kingsburg residents have done a great job curbing overall water use over the past several months - reducing usage over 41% since last June. Outdoor irrigation is the main contributor to high use in the warmer months.  To help meet the continued required conservation levels, residents should adhere to the following:
  • Outdoor watering allowed two (2) days per week
    • EVEN numbered address irrigation days: Wednesday and Sunday only
    • ODD numbered address irrigation days: Tuesday and Saturday only.
    • No watering on Monday, Thursday or Friday.
  • Outdoor irrigation hours
    • NO watering between 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. on any day.
    • Drip irrigation is not restricted to specific days.
Other Water restrictions already in place include:
  • Do not allow water to flow beyond your property line.
  • Automatic shutoff nozzle required for washing vehicles.
  • Washing down of driveways or sidewalks is prohibited.
City crews perform water sweeps at random, and will issue tickets to watering outside the allowable day/times.
Get To Know Us

As part of a new addition to the weekly Carrier, we'll feature a short
bio on City employees to introduce you to the many faces that serve Kingsburg on a daily basis.  This week we're featuring Detective Rick Mejia!

Tell Us About Yourself
I started my career as a police officer with the Kingsburg Police Department in 2010.  I grew up in the Clovis area and graduated from Clovis High School. I was involved in swimming and water polo while I attended high school. I enjoy playing instruments such as the guitar and piano.  Although I never became an expert at either.

What Drove You to Law Enforcement?
The reason I chose to become a police officer was because I felt that communities need help.  In one way shape or form, every day I am helping someone.  Even it's to help jump start someone's car because their grandson lived two hours away.  As a police officer, I am able to help in many different ways. I have met an amazing team of people ever since I began my career with the City of Kingsburg and couldn't be happier.  I feel honored to serve the citizens of Kingsburg because this community is with-out a doubt a reflection of what other cities strive to replicate.

Now that you know a bit about Det. Mejia - make sure you say hi the next time you see him!

This Week in History

On April 18, 1906, an earthquake estimated at close to 8.0 on the Richter scale strikes San Francisco, California, killing hundreds of people as it topples numerous buildings. The quake was caused by a slip of the San Andreas Fault over a segment about 275 miles long, and shock waves could be felt from southern Oregon down to Los Angeles.  It was estimated that some 3,000 people died as a result of the Great San Francisco Earthquake and the devastating fires it inflicted upon the city. Almost 30,000 buildings were destroyed, including most of the city's homes and nearly all the central business district.
