That's Distracting
The Kingsburg Police Department would like to remind everyone that April is National Distracted Driver Awareness Month. Distracted driving takes many forms, including reading, eating, watching videos and grooming; but cell phones are at the top of the list. Distracted driving can lead to serious injury or death. According to the California Highway Patrol, drivers are 23 times more likely to be involved in a collision when texting and talking on a cell phone increases your chances of being involved in a collision 400%.

Be a Friend
The Kingsburg Historic Train Depot continues its nearly $2mm renovation and is getting final interior touches. The Friends of the Depot encourage you to be part of the action. Friends of the Depot are all of the volunteers that have worked tirelessly to bring the Train Depot back to life, and for $25 a year you can be one of them!
Residents and guests are also welcome to come view the Depot's progress. The Depot will be open for viewing during the Annual Car Show, as well as Swedish Festival.

Well Done!
Thank you and congratulations to everyone in the City for reaching your highest reduction in overall monthly water consumption to date! The comparison between March of 2013 and this past March is astounding!
March 2013: 87.245 million gallons
March 2016: 41.322 million gallons
That is an overall drop of 52.6%! While water conservation efforts are not always easy, it ensures water for future generations. We also encourage you to continue conserving as much water as possible. California's four year drought has taken its toll and we will need time to regain what was lost. So please, continue to conserve and thank you for your hard work and again congratulations!

This week in History
On April 5, 1994, front man for the band Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, commited suicide. At least two books have been written on his death, even a documentary was made to tell Cobain's tragic story. In said documentary, Kurt's wife, Courtney Love, is not convinced that Kurt killed himself and that he was murdered. Ironically, many skeptics and even that same documentary suggest that Courtney herself was the murderer, if there was indeed foul play. However these are just conspiracy theories. After a long investigation police concluded that the cause of Kurt's death was suicide.
