Swept Up
The City of Kingsburg contracts with Central Valley Sweeping for city-wide sweeping. The Business District is swept three times a week and the residential areas are swept once every two weeks. Street sweeping provides for cleaner air and storm water quality by removing particulates from the street. For improved effectiveness, we do ask for vehicles to be removed from the street on your designated sweeping day. For more information visit the City website or call Public Works at (559) 897-1066.

Economic Development
There are several ways you can partner with the City on financing related options for your business. Along with our regular incentive program, additional options include: While the B.I.Z. program offers fee reductions for eligible projects in the Business Park and light industrial areas, the facade and alley improvement program partners the City with existing business owners to invest in their buildings or alleyways in the central commercial corridor. For additional information, please contact Alex Henderson. |
Water Reminder
The California drought continues, and has effected the Central Valley greatly. Everyone needs to do their part to conserve. With warm weather heading our way - a few reminders about outdoor irrigation:
- EVEN numbered addresses can water on: Wednesday & Sunday
- ODD numbered addresses can water on: Tuesday & Saturday
- No watering on Mondays, Thursdays or Fridays
- No watering between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 P.M.
- No water to flow beyond your property line
The State of California recently extended the conservation mandate until October 2016. As such, the City will continue efforts to curb outdoor irrigation, which is the largest single contributor to water usage.

This week in History
On March 21, 1963, the maximum security prison of Alcatraz, located one and a half miles off the coast of San Francisco, closed its doors. "The Rock" was a small 12-acre island and featured some of the most advanced security of the time. This in addition to the extremely harsh currents and frigid waters of the San Francisco Bay gave the prison the reputation for being inescapable. At its peak in the mid 1950's, Alcatraz held around 200 of America's worst criminals. Now the island in part of the Golden Gate Recreation Area and is open for tourism.
