Christmas Tree Safety Tips

This Week in History
On December 4, 1991, the American journalist Terry Anderson was released from the captivity of Islamic militants after 2,454 days. He was working as Chief Middle East Correspondent with the Associated Press and was covering the Lebanese Civil War. He was captured on March 16, 1985 and was then held for the next six and a half years in an underground dungeon.
Safe Parking
We have all done it. We need to find a parking spot downtown and there just so happens to be one on the opposite side of the road.

A friendly reminder that crossing the double yellow line to park is ILLEGAL and can cause car accidents.  This is especially true when vehicles are backing out of a space and aren't expecting someone to turn left from the opposite lane.

Please be safe and find a parking spot on the same side of the road that you are traveling on.
Release the Dogs!
Phase one of the Kingsburg Dog Park is complete!  A water source has been added thanks to generous private donations and allocations through the Community Services Commission.

However there is still much worrunning_golden_retriever.jpgk to be done if we want this park to be the best for our pets. Next phases include the addition of benches, shade structures and donated landscaping.

Holiday F.O.G.
We will all be spending a bit more time in the kitchen making our holiday feasts for our families and friends.

The Selma-Kingsburg-Fowler Sanitation District would like to remind you that in order to keep your sewer pipes running clean and clear, you should throw all of the fats, oils, and grease (F.O.G.) into the trash rather than down the sink.
New Rec. Leader Needed
Looking for a challenge? How about becoming a Recreational Leader! The Recreational Leader is in charge of putting on activities, as well as leading, promoting, and participating in youth activities and programs.

Applicants must be at least 17 years old, have  2 years of experience with children 5-13 years old, and possess knowledge of basic program planning and organization.  Applications are due December 11 at 5:00pm and can be turned in at City Hall. If you have questions just contact Christina.
Smooth Travel
10th Avenue is currently under construction. The work includes road reconstruction as well as sidewalk repairs. The construction zone stretches from Sierra to Stroud with the work lasting for 3 to 4 weeks.  Residents are encouraged to use the 14th Ave. detour route during the construction.

A lighted crosswalk will be added at Union and 10th during the Spring of 2016 as part of a separate project.

Slick Sidewalks

Be mindful of watering during the cold months. Excess water could freeze over on the sidewalk, causing a slipping hazard.

Christmas Mixer

Join us at the Kingsburg Police Department on Tuesday, December 8 @ 5:30. Bring an unwrapped toy for the toy drive and a small raffle prize to join is the fun.

Santa Lucia
