This Week in History
At 8:45 a.m. on a clear Tuesday morning, an American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The impact left a gaping, burning hole near the 80th floor of the 110-story skyscraper, instantly killing hundreds of people and trapping hundreds more in higher floors. As the evacuation of the tower and its twin got underway, television cameras broadcasted live images of what initially appeared to be a freak accident. Then, 18 minutes after the first plane hit, a second Boeing 767-United Airlines Flight 175-appeared out of the sky, turned sharply toward the World Trade Center, and sliced into the south tower at about the 60th floor.
A Day to Serve
Tomorrow, September 11, we remember and honor those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks that day.  Close to 3,000 people died in the World Trade Center and its vicinity, including a staggering 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York City police officers, and 37 Port Authority police officers.

On this day we take time to remember the lives lost, the heroic work done to save thousands of others, and celebrate National Day of Service and Remembrance
One Voice
The City recently soft-launched a website dedicated solely to the marketing of the Business Park, located on Sierra St.  While additional information will continue to be added, the site is intended as a central clearing place for information regarding the Business Park.  Information includes:
  • Parcel Numbering
  • Acreage
  • Helpful links
  • Contact Information

With several different owners, often times interested parties have difficulty finding out specific details of parcels.  With a unified marketing plan, we'll have the ability to answer those questions quickly and accurately.

Check and See

We've had several inquires regarding the $45 fines related to water usage and residential allotments in June and July.  Some common information includes:
  • Your water bill is for usage two months prior.  The bill received in September was for water used during the month of July.
  • The water meters are calibrated accurately and read the same way each month.
  • A good way to check your usage is to read your meter once per week on the same day.

Also, the City can have a water department employee visit your home, provide a 90-day usage report, and explain  your usage to you.  This service is $50.  If an error with the water meter or reading is discovered, we will refund the $50 and any overuse fines accrued to that point.  It should be noted, however, that we have not encountered any such instances of errors. You may schedule an appointment by visiting City Hall during office hours and prepaying for the service.

Bad Air
With the heat and local fires, the air quality recently has been dangerous for both sensitive groups and everyone exposed.  In fact, Fresno is designated unhealthy for Friday, September 11 by the San Joaquin Air Pollution Control District. As with high heat, make sure to take extra precautions with infants and the elderly, while making sure to take care of yourself and pets.

A Full Moon

The Kingsburg District Chamber of Commerce invites you to the annual Harvest Moon Music Festival on the evening of September 26.

Come out to the Swedish Village for popular festival activities, food,  music, and more.  The evening begins at 4pm and runs until 11pm.
