This Week in History
On September 1, 1864, Union Army General William Tecumseh Sherman lays siege to Atlanta, Georgia, a critical Confederate hub, shelling civilians and cutting off supply lines. The Confederates retreated, destroying the city's munitions as they went. On November 15 of that year, Sherman's troops burned much of the city before continuing their march through the South. Sherman's Atlanta campaign was one of the most decisive victories of the Civil War.
P3 Success
Existing business in town?  Take advantage of incentives to improve your building's exterior, improve efficiency and more!  Many have noticed the recent work of 1380 Lewis Street.  The business, Cates & Co. renovated the building with the assistance of the City's Public-Private Partnership (P3) Facade Improvement program.

The program is designed to strengthen the economic viatility of the neighborhood, preserve historic structures and attract/retain business.
What A Drop
Kingsburg residents continue to do a great job of conserving water during our historic drought.  For the month of August, overall usage dropped nearly 41% over August 2013 benchmarks.  That marks the third month in a row of meeting our required 36% reduction.
  • June - 37%
  • July - 38.6%
  • August - 40.9%

September also has a 27,000 residential use maximum for all residential properties.  Keep up the great work!

Form Based Code
During their regular meeting on Wednesday night, the City Council adopted a General Plan Amendment related to the rezoning of 130 acres of Downtown as part of a Form Based Code revamp. Form-based code is a land development regulation that fosters predictable build results and a high-quality public realm by using physical form (rather than separation of uses) as the organizing principle for the code.

The change is designed to give greater flexibility to multiple use types, preserve Downtown Kingsburg's building types and ensure quality development.

Harvest Festival

The Kingsburg District Chamber of Commerce invites you to the annual Harvest Moon Music Festival on the evening of September 26.

Come out to the Swedish Village for popular festival activities, food,  music, and more.  The evening begins at 4pm and runs until 11pm.

Don't Block the Way

We've had some recent reports of sidewalk or road parking obstruction from basketball hoops, etc.  Make sure you pull those items in when done for the day.
10.04.170 - Obstructions-Restrictions in general.
No person shall place, or cause to be placed, any obstruction, or allow any obstruction so placed to remain upon any street, as defined by this code, and which definition includes but is not limited to, sidewalks, or any alley or easement within the city, or obstruct the free passage of persons over any part of any such street, alley or easement.
