On August 12, 1990, the largest tyrannosaurus rex skeleton ever was discovered. The bones were sticking out of a cliff near Faith, South Dakota and the skeleton was over 90 percent complete. It was later named Sue, after it's discoverer. The 65 million year old specimen was later purchased by Chicago's Field Museum for $8.36 million, financed in part by Disney and McDonald's Corporations. Sue's discovery has allowed scientists to determine the T. rex had a wishbone, which supports the theory that birds are a type of living dinosaur.
