Video Tip of the Week
This Week in History

On July 27, 1974, the House Judiciary Committee recommends that America's 37th president, Richard M. Nixon, be impeached and removed from office. The impeachment proceedings resulted from a series of political scandals involving the Nixon administration that came to be collectively known as Watergate.  On August 5,Nixon complied with a U.S. Supreme Court ruling requiring that he provide transcripts of the missing tapes, and the new evidence clearly implicated him in a cover up of the Watergate break-in. On August 8, Nixon announced his resignation, becoming the first president in U.S. history to voluntarily leave office.

Minion Time
We asked, and you delivered.  We had nearly two hundred votes cast for what our next Movie in the Park event should be on August 8 @8pm in Memorial Park.  By a margin of just 2 votes - Despicable Me beat out Back to the Future!

That means you can come get comfy with Gru, Agnes, and of course - the Minions.  The event is free of charge and snacks will be available for purchase.  See you there!
Continued Reduction
August is just around the corner - hard to believe.  That means that a new month for water conservation will begin soon.  As in June and July, residents are asked to keep water usage below 27,000 gallons.  This is in an effort to reduce our usage by 36% compared to 2013.

In June, residents reduced use by 37% (we'll have July numbers next week).  In addition, the City issued 351 residential fines for those homes who used over 27,000 gallons in June.  The fine revenue is placed in a separate account to help fund water conservation incentives and retrofits.

Don't Dump That

Did you know that Kingsburg residents can dispose of electronics FREE of charge at the Mid Valley Disposal yard (towers, monitors and TVs)?  In addition, residents can recycle batteries and CFL lights at ACE Hardware during their regular business hours.

Residents can also utilize free prescription drug drop off located at KPD, and a free Sharps drop off at the Kmart pharmacy.
Heat Safety
Triple digit heat has returned.  Make sure you take time to follow safety precautions when heading outdoors.  And always remember to never leave children or pets in hot cars unattended.  It only takes a few minutes for a car's internal temperature to heat up dramatically.

Be safe when working or playing outdoors - look for early signs of a heat emergency/stroke to prevent further issues.
National Night Out
Come out to Memorial Park next Tuesday for a great family night - National Night Out.  Join local public safety officers and see their emergency equipment, enjoy kids games and activities, presentation by Rick Alonzo and a dunk tank!

The event is free with activities for all ages and is put on by the Kingsburg Police Department and Public Safety Committee.  Vendors will also be on hand for those looking for a nice evening treat.
