Video Tip of the Week
This Week in History

On July 9, 1877, the All England Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club begins its first lawn tennis tournament at Wimbledon, then an outer-suburb of London. Twenty-one amateurs showed up to compete in the Gentlemen's Singles tournament, the only event at the first Wimbledon. The winner was to take home a 25-guinea trophy.  The Wimbledon Championships, the only major tennis event still played on grass, is held annually in late June and early July.

A Top Town
Kingsburg was recently honored as a top 50 California City (less than 100,000 population) in several areas, including Best Town, by Niche.  Kingsburg scored high in a number of California rankings, including:

Congrats to all residents for helping make Kingsburg a great place to live, work and play!

Congrats Tim
Fire Chief Tim Ray was recently appointed to full-time status of the Kingsburg Fire Department.  Chief Ray began working as a volunteer for the department in 1986, and as a full-time firefighter in 1989.  He has worked nearly every position, and was appointed to part-time Chief in 2011.
Clear the Way
Have you taken a look at your trees in your backyard lately?  Many mature trees in town are encroaching on the alley public space.  Homeowners are responsible for keeping their trees properly trimmed to make sure emergency and service vehicles can access the alleys.  Garbage trucks and fire engines can be hindered by large, untrimmed branches.

Residents are also reminded to make sure they have their address visible from the alley.  This greatly assists emergency personnel when responding to a potential incident.  Police and Firefighters thank you in advance!

New Park Opening

The Kingsburg Community Services Committee will be holding a "Leash-cutting" ceremony at the new dog park located on Laurel Ave. behind the Kingsburg Vet Clinic.  The event will be held this Saturday morning, July 11th at 8am.  We'll have dog treats and toys for those who help come celebrate, donated by Kingsburg Feed & Pet Supplies!

The Park's first phase has been completed (clean up, trash, fence repair, etc.) to get the park up and running. The Committee is working to fund raise for additional amenities, including shade structures and benches for comfort.  To get involved, contact Ashlee Schmal.
The Truffle Shuffle
Come out for the City's first Movie in the Park Night on Saturday, July 11 @8pm.  The feature presentation will be The Goonies.

Held in Memorial Park, the event is free and seating is available.  Feel free to bring chairs or blankets too!  Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.
