"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover."

On May 25, 1977, Memorial Day weekend opens with an intergalactic bang as the first of George Lucas' blockbuster Star Wars movies hits American theaters. The incredible success of Star Wars-it received seven Oscars, and earned $461 million in U.S. ticket sales and a gross of close to $800 million worldwide-began with an extensive, coordinated marketing push by Lucas and his studio, 20th Century Fox, months before the movie's release date.

The City Council will hold a study session on the proposed 2015-2016 budget during their regular meeting on June 3, 2015 @7pm.
The proposed budget maintains staffing levels throughout the organization, incorporates improved efficiency, and utilizes one-time revenues to pay for some long deferred capital items (equipment, software and infrastructure). An executive summary and Letter From the City Manager highlights several key areas.
Council will officially take action on the July 1 - June 30 fiscal budget during a public hearing during their regular meeting on June 17, 2015.

We've all experienced them - door to door salesman. But did you know, in the City of Kingsburg, all companies doing business door to door must obtain a business license and permit before conducting their work? The City completes a full background check on all salesman. Anyone selling door to door should be able to provide a permit from the City at your request. If they don't, feel free to contact the Police Dept. non-emergency line at 897-2931. |
As many residents are already aware, the City Council has enacted a number of new guidelines to help establish a water conservation program to help meet our 36% State mandated reduction requirement. As part of the need to meet the 36% reduction, Council has established a maximum usage amount for all residential properties from June 2015 - February 2016. The Council gave great consideration to the need for more usage in the hotter summer months. Residents can now come pickup a FREE electronic timer to set drip systems, or for those who do not have an automatic sprinkler system. The new timers are able to be programmed to meet the new City day/hour timelines. Stop by City Hall during regular business hours and pick yours up today.
For questions about the new regulations or the watering program, please contact Alex Henderson.
