Quote of the Week
This Week in History

On April 10, 1866, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is founded in New York City by philanthropist and diplomat Henry Bergh. Nine days later, the first effective anti-cruelty law in the United States was passed, allowing the ASPCA to investigate complaints of animal cruelty and to make arrests. As the pioneer and innovator of the humane movement, the ASPCA quickly became the model for more than 25 other humane organizations in the United States and Canada. And by the time Bergh died in 1888, 37 of the 38 states in the Union had passed anti-cruelty laws.

Water Conservation

On April 1, 2015 Governor Brown issued Executive Order B-29-15 (EO) that will require further mandatory cutbacks on water consumption.

The City of Kingsburg is one of the largest consumers of water per capita in the entire State. Data from September 2014 shows that Kingsburg Residents used 308 gallons of water per person, per day. Residents in the City have significantly cut back their water use, however, more cutbacks need to be made. Find out what you can do to conserve water

At the April 15th City Council meeting, the Council will discuss additional water conservation measures for Kingsburg residents. The Council will consider conservation tactics such as:

  • reduced irrigation days
  • tiered-conservation pricing
  • partnership incentive programs
  • limit on pool refills unless recommended through certified pool company
