City Council Meeting

On March 12, 1933, eight days after his inauguration, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gives his first national radio address or "fireside chat," broadcast directly from the White House. Over the course of his historic 12-year presidency, Roosevelt used the chats to build popular support for his groundbreaking New Deal policies, in the face of stiff opposition from big business and other groups. After World War II began, he used them to explain his administration's wartime policies to the American people. The success of Roosevelt's chats was evident not only in his three re-elections, but also in the millions of letters that flooded the White House.

The weather has been showing it, and date soon will too - Spring is just around the corner. March 20 marks the Vernal Equinox, or first official day of Spring.
Nicer weather means pedestrians and bicyclists will be hitting the road with more frequency. We ask bike riders to please ride single file to help ease traffic congestion. Vehicles should also give bicycles plenty of room, and to acknowledge their place on our streets. The City has a number of dedicated bike lanes. In addition, the new pedestrian/bike path located off Madsen Ave. is a great place to safely enjoy walks and rides. |
Residents have likely noticed continued progress on the mixed use Marion Villas complex. The building will house 46 units for senior living, and also will house over 3,000 sq. ft. of retail space.
The project, which was originally scheduled to be completed in early May, is expected to be completed in June. The delay is due to a some interior design changes to the location of the commercial space, which is intended to make the space more functional.
Those interested in renting an apartment are encouraged to call 1-877-386-1777.

On February 26th, letters were sent to affected property owners regarding the recent water meter installation. Each letter stated the cost of the meter, installation and labor. The city has created a dedicated page to help answer questions about the project, including a FAQ. Residents can also contact city hall at (559) 897-5821. Those who received bills are reminded that if you wish to pay in full without any interest charges, the balance is due by March 31, 2015 . Beginning with your April bill, users will be able to see how much water they consumed in March. This will allow you to calculate your potential costs for the amount of water used. Those with new meters will be billed for actual usage beginning with your May bill. |
