On January 15, 1967 the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the first ever world championship game of American football. The Packers' 35-10 victory was played out in that historic first game before a non-sold-out crowd at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The term "Super Bowl" was officially introduced in 1969, with the winning team taking home the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy which was named for the legendary Packers coach who guided his team to victory in the first two Super Bowls.

Business expansion continues in Kingsburg, with Sacramento Container Corp. recently beginning construction on a 45,000 square foot addition.
Sacramento Container, which purchased and located in the old Del Monte plant in 2013, has become a leading company in Kingsburg, providing new jobs and investing in the community. The current addition is phase 1 of an expected 250,000 square foot expansion. The company considered expanding in other locales, including Bakersfield, but ultimately settled on Kingsburg because of the location, business incentives and willingness to work with the company on the expansion.
Kingsburg has extended their business incentive program until 2018, and continues to promote new and expanding businesses in town.

The state required temporary chlorination of the City's municipal water supply that began on December 10, 2014 is complete. The chlorination
was mandated when very low forms of total coliform were present in a small section of the City's piping. We appreciate your patience during the process, and are happy to report that the City's water supply and weekly sampling is back to regular operation. If you have questions about the chlorination process, please contact Alex Henderson. |
The City Council will be meeting twice next week:
Both meetings will be held in Council Chambers and are open to the public.

The San Joaquin Valley's unique topography, geography, and meteorology hinders the Valley's ability to meet the ever-toughening federal air quality standards. The Valley cannot meet the federal air quality goals without addressing pollution from residential wood burning.
The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District's educational program Check Before You Burn lets you know when you can use your residential wood burning device. Each day from November - February, a daily wood-burning status is issued for each county letting you know if you can burn.
