"He puzzled and puzzed till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. Maybe Christmas, he thought... doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps... means a little bit more!"

In Boston Harbor, a group of Massachusetts colonists disguised as Mohawk Indians board three British tea ships and dump 342 chests of tea into the harbor.
The midnight raid, popularly known as the "Boston Tea Party," was in protest of the British Parliament's Tea Act of 1773, a bill designed to save the faltering East India Company by greatly lowering its tea tax and granting it a virtual monopoly on the American tea trade. The low tax allowed the East India Company to undercut even tea smuggled into America by Dutch traders, and many colonists viewed the act as another example of taxation tyranny.

As part of their regular meeting on Wednesday night, the Kingsburg City Council said its final farewell to Council member David Karstetter, who served on the Council for twelve years.
In addition, the City welcomed new member Staci Person-Smith, who was elected during the November 4 election. Smith was sworn in (or seated) along side incumbents Bruce Blayney and Michelle Brown-Roman, who were re-elected.
The Council also completed their reorganization and voted to retain Chet Reilly as Mayor and to appoint Bruce Blayney as Mayor Pro-tem.

Downtown Kingsburg businesses will be expanding their normal hours tonight. While most shops usually close at 5pm, shoppers will be able to get those final gifts until 7pm.
Remember, shopping local keeps tax dollars right here in Kingsburg and supports our small businesses.

The City's Community Services Commission met on Monday, December 15 to discuss new potential locations for an off leash dog park. City staff presented several options and listed the pros and cons of each potential spot.
After both public input and Commission discussion, three locations were selected for further evaluation and cost estimates:
- Heritage Park (Cody Lane)
- 14th Ave/Azalea Ave. Ponding basin
- 22nd St./Solig Ave. Ponding basin
The narrowing of these locations does not mean a dog park will necessarily be placed, but that additional research will be done to determine feasibility. If you are interested in assisting, or have comments on any of the locations, please contact Ashlee Schmal. |
City offices will be closed on the following days in observance of the holidays:
- December 24, 25
& 31 - January 1
In addition, regular garbage, recycling and green waste collection will be delayed one full day each week on December 25 and January 1. So, if your regular collection is on Thursday, it will be delayed until Friday of the same week.

We're looking for your help! A few months ago, several residents volunteered to help clean up the west side of Golden State Blvd. from Kamm to Mountain View. We want to keep that momentum going and make sure the area stays maintained.
Similar to the 'adopt-a-highway' program, we're asking interested individuals to adopt a portion of Golden State to help weed, keep clear of liter, and keep beautiful for all to enjoy. If interested, please contact City Clerk Sue Bauch (897-5821). Together we can help keep our City looking great!
