The City's Planning Commission met on Thursday evening to continue their discussion regarding the proposed Mental Health facility planned for the old Kingsburg hospital.
The meeting continued with staff follow-up from previous questions raised at the November 13 meeting, as well as public comment.
After the public hearing was closed, the Planning Commission voted 6-0 to approve the conditional use permit, the environmental exemption, and the variance. The Commission did amend four of the proposed conditions of approval to provide clarity and address both resident and applicant requests.

A reminder that the City does not pickup piles of loose leaves. With that in mind, please make sure you do not pile leaves in the street/gutter. Piling the leaves not only can cause water backups during rain events (by plugging drain inlets), but large piles cannot be collected by the street sweeper. Residents are reminded to please utilize their green waste bin when disposing of leaves. Residents can also take leaves to the Mid Valley Disposal yard to dispose of leaves, green waste, garbage, electronics and recycling. |
Unfortunately, the City's water supply has again tested positive for total coliform presence in the municipal water supply. While it's difficult to gauge what could be causing the positive tests, the recent drought and aging infrastructure could play a role.
Because of the presence of total coliform, the State has again required the City to chlorinate for two weeks. However, because the levels are very low, the amount of chlorine will be much lower than the amount used in September of this year.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding during this safety process.
