Quote of the Week
"A people free to choose will always choose peace."

This Week in History
At 8:45 a.m. on a clear Tuesday morning, an American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.  18 minutes after the first plane hit, a second Boeing 767--United Airlines Flight 175--appeared out of the sky, turned sharply toward the World Trade Center, and sliced into the south tower at about the 60th floor. The collision caused a massive explosion that showered burning debris over surrounding buildings and the streets below. America was under attack.
Water Safety
Residents may have noticed the City water department crews flushing a few fire hydrants this week.  This was done as a requirement to continue to ensure the safe and healthy operation of the City's water supply.

With the sensitive nature of water waste, crews flushed the hydrants into water tankers and then recycled the water to areas of need (watering, dust control, etc.), as opposed to letting the water run to nearby drains.
Proper Signage
As part of the City's proactive approach to code enforcement, several illegal banners and signs have been identified and owners notified of the need to have them removed.

To provide businesses an opportunity to give feedback, the Planning Commission and City Council will be examining the possibility of allowing temporary signage through a permitting process.  If you have interest and would like to provide input during the development of the language, please contact Alex Henderson.  More information regarding future meetings dates and times will be available when scheduled.
