On July 29,1958, the U.S. Congress passes legislation establishing the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), a civilian agency responsible for coordinating America's activities in space. NASA has since sponsored space expeditions, both human and mechanical, that have yielded vital information about the solar system and universe.

Tonight is the finale! The summer band series is wrapping up tonight as the band plays the 1812 Overture along with actual cannons and church chimes. Residents should take note of the use of the cannons, and make sure dogs/animals are secure - as they can become frightened.
If you've missed any of the shows, you can always catch up online at any time! Come out to watch the 127th Kingsburg Summer Band - the music starts @8pm.

Come out next week to help celebrate the City's National Night Out event - held at Memorial Park.
Held Tuesday, August 5th, residents are invited to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Come to the park to interact with your officers, giveaways for the kids, and to enter the raffle contest. The event begins at 6pm - hope to see you there.

Did you know, the City's water table has dropped approximately 9 feet during the drought? We've asked residents to reduce usage, and you have, but there is more we can do.
As part of ongoing efforts to increase education and reduce overall water waste, the City will be conducting proactive sweeps of the City to make sure all water regulations are being followed. Residents who are out of compliance will receive a door hanger notification of corrective action. Continued non-compliance could lead to a monetary citation. The City is committed to making sure our infrastructure is in compliance as well, and our crews are working to repair damaged sprinkler heads in public spaces. If you notice any non-compliance, please contact City Hall (897-5821) or non-emergency PD (897-2931) after hours. |
With Summer comes high heat, and that usually means higher energy bills. If you notice a significant spike in your energy bill during the summer - there a a number of quick things you can do:
- Turn down your water heater temperature
- Wash clothes with cold water
- Unplug electronics when not in use
Perhaps the biggest saver is turning up your thermostat. Users can save 1-3% per degree above 72. Find out more ways to save.

At their August 6, 2014 meeting, the City Council will discuss the use of Erling Park. Specifically, the discussion will focus around the potential for utilizing a portion of the park as a location for an "off-leash" Dog Park. While there are several factors to consider when examining the potential of a dedicated Dog Park, the Council will have an open discussion, where the public is invited to attend and voice their opinion. The meeting begins at 7pm, and the agenda can be found online beginning August 1. |
