On July 20, 1969 at 10:56 p.m. EDT, American astronaut Neil Armstrong, 240,000 miles from Earth, speaks these words to more than a billion people listening at home: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Stepping off the lunar landing module Eagle, Armstrong became the first human to walk on the surface of the moon.

On several occasions, the City has discussed the need for residents to voluntarily reduce water usage, and specifically, to eliminate water waste.
Recently, the State of California passed new water waste regulations that provide the ability to impose stiff monetary penalties to violators. Examples of water waste include:
- Using a hose to wash off sidewalks/driveways;
- Landscape watering the runs off property into sidewalks/streets/alleys
- Washing vehicles without a shut off nozzle
- Using water in decorative fountains (unless water recirculates)
The City will continue to follow a procedure of an initial warning with potential fines for non-compliance, but encourage property owners to help assist with water waste reduction. Follow our watering requirements, and if you notice a habitual offender - contact City Hall (897-5821) or non-emergency PD (897-2931) after hours. |
There are only two shows remaining for the 2014 summer concert series! The band will be playing tonight, and again next Thursday, July 31.
Next week's show includes the band playing the 1812 Overture along with cannons and church chimes. Residents should take note of the use of the cannons, and make sure dogs/animals are secure - as they can become frightened.
If you've missed any of the shows, you can always catch up online at any time! Come out to watch the 127th Kingsburg Summer Band!

 At their August 6, 2014 meeting, the City Council will discuss the use of Erling Park. Specifically, the discussion will focus around the potential for utilizing a portion of the park as a location for an "off-leash" Dog Park. While there are several factors to consider when examining the potential of a dedicated Dog Park, the Council will have an open discussion, where the public is invited to attend and voice their opinion. The meeting begins at 7pm, and the agenda can be found online beginning August 1. |
Those interested in renting out the Historical Park can now do so by contacting the Historical Society directly. Residents and non-residents alike have the opportunity to rent the park area, as well as the reception hall.
The Historical Park provides a great place to hold nearly any event, including family gatherings and weddings. With several fully restored buildings and equipment, the park provides great atmosphere and Kingsburg history.

Save the date for this year's National Night Out event - held at Memorial Park. Held this year on Tuesday, August 5th, residents are invited to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Come to the park to interact with your officers, giveaways for the kids, and to enter the raffle contest. The event begins at 6pm - hope to see you there.
