Disneyland, Walt Disney's metropolis of nostalgia, fantasy, and futurism, opens on July 17, 1955. The $17 million theme park was built on 160 acres of former orange groves in Anaheim, California, and soon brought in staggering profits. Today, Disneyland hosts more than 14 million visitors a year, who spend close to $3 billion.

The City's water meter installation project is nearing completion! With only a few weeks remaining, the project is anticipated to be completed early, and well under budget. With an initial engineer estimate of $1.8 million, early indications project the project to total $1.2 million.
Residents will receive additional notification from the City prior to any billing for the meters. Once the project is complete, the City will be able to determine the exact cost for each home's meter based upon the work performed.

Residents of the area have probably noticed construction work has begun around town. There are a few different projects going on, including:
- Marion Villas Senior Living Complex
- Historic Train Depot
- 14th Ave. Reconstruction
- Lincoln Ave Reconstruction
The 14th Ave. project between Sierra and Stroud is the reconstruction of the road, sidewalk improvements, and the addition of bike lanes. The Lincoln Ave. project from Sierra to 18th Ave. includes sidewalk improvements, slurry seal, and some reconstruction.

Work continues on the Marion Villas, a 46 unit senior living complex that will also include over 3,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Included with the work is the incorp oration of the downtown "bump outs", which will be located at the corners of Marion and Ellis Street.
Construction on the project is expected to be completed in the next 8 months.

Save the date for this year's National Night Out event - held at Memorial Park. Held this year on Tuesday, August 5th, residents are invited to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Come to the park to interact with your officers, giveaways for the kids, and to enter the raffle contest. The event begins at 6pm - hope to see you there.
