With a spectacular victory at the Belmont Stakes, Secretariat becomes the first horse since Citation in 1948 to win America's coveted Triple Crown--the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes. In one of the finest performances in racing history, Secretariat, ridden by Ron Turcotte, completed the 1.5-mile race in 2 minutes and 24 seconds, a dirt-track record for that distance.

Mid Valley employees and City staff are working quickly to ensure the transition is seamless for all residents involved. Residents should have received a letter from Mid Valley in the mail that outlines key dates and expectations for new container delivery.
During the week of June 23, all old containers will be removed from your residence, and the new containers will be delivered the same day. For purposes of making sure every home gets their containers, they will be delivered to the curb. If your containers are currently collected in the alley, residents will be asked to take their new containers to that location for proper pickup.

While the City doesn't have a dedicated animal control officer, staff is available to help with the pickup of stray animals.
Dogs are taken to the City corporation yard where they are sheltered, fed, and given water. Here, we hope to help them find a proper home (or reunite them with owners). Cats are taken to the local vet to help find them a home.
If you notice stray or injured animals, you're encouraged to contact the non-emergency police number 897-2931. A reminder also that all dogs in the City must be licensed - this helps with identification should the dog get loose.
