Just after 6 p.m. on April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. is fatally shot while standing on the balcony outside his second-story room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. The civil rights leader was in Memphis to support a sanitation workers' strike and was on his way to dinner when a bullet struck him in the jaw. King was pronounced dead after his arrival at a Memphis hospital. He was 39 years old.

The Spring Community Clean Up is happening later this month. There are a number of days you can take advantage of the event, held at 1200 Kern Street. The event days run from April 28 - May 10, with times for each day as follows:
- Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 4:00pm
- Saturday (May 3 & 10); 7:00am - 2:30pm
- Closed Sundays
Residents will have the chance to dispose of a number of items - making sure they are all properly disposed of. While you're busy cleaning out for the Clean Up - set aside those items that can be donated and stop by Kcaps on your way.

Cruise night, spaghetti dinner, pancake breakfast, Cars - Cars - Cars. These are all things that describe the 20th Annual Car Show. This year's event is just two weeks away, being held on April 18 & 19. With a raffle, downtown shopping, and plenty to see - head to downtown Kingsburg for another great year on the main streets of our Swedish Village.

Are you participating in the Kingsburg chapter of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life? There are a number of ways to get involved - including a fundraising party this Saturday night! Head over to Bullfrogs Bar & Grill from 5-8pm to help support Kingsburg Relay for Life.
You can also mark your calendar for the Kingsburg Relay for Life event, held Saturday April 26 @9am at Kingsburg High School. Donate to one of these great teams today.

The Kingsburg Joint Union High School District has announced they will be holding a general obligation bond referendum during the June 3, 2014 election. The bond, which is requesting approximately $13 million dollars, is to be used for a number of updates to the campus, many related to technology.

The Kingsburg Historical Society has announced their annual Chow Down event will be held on Sunday, April 27 from 11:30am - 3:oopm. Held at the Historical Park, for just $15.00, guests will receive a USDA choice steak, salad, rice pilaf, and a roll. With family entertainment and access to all of the exhibits, guests young and old can enjoy a great day at the park. Tickets are available at the Kingsburg Chamber of Commerce.
