Quote of the Week

"Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is
the natural consequence of consistently applying the
basic fundamentals."

-- Jim Rohn

This Week in History
Nelson Mandela, leader of the movement to end South African apartheid, is released from prison after 27 years on February 11, 1990.
Grand Opening
While the new Ace Hardware store in town has been open for a short period - the official Grand Opening Ceremony is just around the corner.  A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10:00 am Friday morning.

Customers are encouraged to come out to Ace on Friday, February 28 or Saturday, March 1 to take advantage of great deals and to welcome the business to Kingsburg.  Stop by between 11-1 on either day and you can enjoy hot dogs and soda as well!
Annexation Official
Recently, the City was informed that the annexation of property along Golden State (old 99) was recorded and is now officially part of Kingsburg!

The annexation effort has been ongoing for parts of the last thirteen (13) years.  The land included in the annexation includes Sun-Maid, Guardian Industries, and Vie-Del Co. properties, bordered by Bethel Ave, Mountain View, and Golden State Blvd.  In addition, land on the west side of Golden State Blvd. was also included.

The annexation offers opportunity for future development and strengthens the existing relationships between the City and existing industries.

Utility Bills Due
A reminder that City utility payments are due on the 19th of each month - that's next week!.  Did you know that you can pay your utility bill online?  Pay your bill right from the comfort of your own home, while browsing the rest of the City's website for useful info.

City Hall offices will be closed on Monday, February 17.  Offices will reopen on the following day at 8am.
H20 Saving
The prolonged drought in the area remains a constant thought on many people's minds in the Valley.  As such, the City has suspended the watering of all retention basins until further notice.

Residents are also asked to cut back on overall water usage by employing a few tips:
  • Do not wash cars, driveways or sidewalks;
  • Limit lawn watering days in winter;
  • Reduce watering times to 5 minute increments.

There are a number of ways to help keep our water supply sufficient during drought times.  Thanks for pitching in!

The Kingsburg Police Department is now accepting applications for qualified applicants for position of police officer.  The first review date is February 21st, 2014 at 5pm.
