Quote of the Week

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit."

--Aristotle

Tip of the Week
It's cold and flu season - The CDC recommends a few helpful tips to keep healthy during the winter.

  • Wash hands regularly
  •

  • Avoid those that are sick
  •

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.

Help Us Grow!
Get Kingsburg Information Every Week!
Each week the City will be providing information about local events, projects, downtown businesses, and much more!

We need your help to spread the word to friends and neighbors - simply forward this email to them, or sign them up!  You can also visit the City's website to signup today.
Crime Drop
Although overall crime fell 19% (Part 1) in 2013, compared with 2012, we have recently experienced theft of copper wire from City facilities.  The wire, considered valuable for scrap metal, is removed through illegal means, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.

If you notice any suspicious activity, especially by non-marked utility vehicles, please contact our Police Department.  A quick check by our officers will ensure all work being performed is legitimate, and your services continue as expected.
Train Depot Update
As many of you are aware, the Kingsburg Train Depot continues to move forward with plans for rehabilitation.  After initial bids came back at nearly double the allocated funding amount, City engineers are working to improve the scope of the project in preparation to rebid the project.

It's expected that the new bid package will be distributed by the end of January, with work beginning as early as May, 2014.
Welcome
The City welcomed two new employees this week, with the positions of City Manager and Finance Director filled after they were vacated by retirements in mid-2013.

City Manager Alexander J. Henderson, former Deputy Village Manager of Bayside, Wisconsin, began work on January 13.  Alex spent six years in Bayside, overseeing budget development, stormwater and sanitary utility management, public works, economic development and human resources.  Alex and his wife Emily are excited to become an active part of the Kingsburg community.

Finance Director Margarita Moreno also began work with the City on January 13.  Mrs. Moreno spent her last 13 years in the City of Sanger, working as a Senior Accountant in their Finance and Administration department.  Mrs. Moreno brings a wealth of local government financial experience to the Kingsburg team.

Help us welcome both Alex and Maggie to Kingsburg!
Mobile Touch
Keep in touch while on the go - download the City's smartphone app today!  Available on both IPhone and Android devices, the City of Kingsburg App puts you in touch with City Hall, lists local businesses and places to eat, and allows you to let us know of areas in the City needing attention.

Notice a pot hole on your street?  How about a street light that's out?  Snap a photo of the issue and submit it right from your phone!
