Federal Legislative Trip: April 11-14
| The Enid Chamber federal legislative trip to Washington, D.C. is scheduled for April 11-14, 2016. The meetings and legislative activities will be on Tuesday, April 12 and Wednesday, April 13. Meetings at the Pentagon and meetings with our Oklahoma Congressional Delegation are planned. The Enid Chamber and the City of Enid will also host a legislative reception. The legislative trip is a great opportunity to support Vance AFB and discuss federal issues that impact Northwest Oklahoma.

Making Enid's voice known at the Capitol!

The Enid Chamber hosted a legislative breakfast at the Capitol on February 17th. Thank you to all the community members who attended and helped host Enid Day at the Capitol. Our city was well represented by local businesses and civic leaders. State legislators, agency officials and staff members attended the event. Enid Day @ the Capitol provides positive exposure for Enid and an opportunity for our citizens to discuss important issues with state officials.

BLAKE GIBSON: Hometown - Enid, Oklahoma
Family: Happily married to Dr. Renah Gibson. No children. Three dogs: Stoney-half lab, half greyhound; Wrigley-half beagle, half lab; and Willy-the meanest one eyed pug in America. Profession: Attorney focusing on estate planning and business law. Tell us four of your favorite things: Traveling on motorcycles is by far my favorite pastime. I typically travel around 8,000 miles a year on my Road King. I also enjoy golfing and powerlifting. What would you do with 30 minutes of free time? Probably go for a run (I know you can't tell), read a book, or pray the rosary. What makes you unique? I am very diverse in my interests and it would be difficult to put me into any one category. For example I played college football, but I was also in the orchestra. I enjoy golf but also riding motorcycles. I enjoy experiencing life and do not like to miss out on anything. It is because of this that I enjoy a wide variety of activities. Favorite thing about Enid?
The people, hands down. Even though I spent many years in other towns for college, law school, and starting my career, my goal was to return home. Enid has that small town feel that I love.

Small size, I can get most places in a reasonable amount of time, and my entire family is here, so I have everyone close.

Spend time w/ family. What makes you unique? The ability to step outside of my comfort zone to attempt new things completely opposite of my personality and disposition. Favorite thing about Enid? The Enid Public School family and students.
JUSTIN STRATE: Hometown - Fairmont, OK
Family: Single with one dog, which his name is Duke Profession: I am Assistant Vice President/Loan Officer for the Bank of Kremlin in Goltry, OK. The main sector of my portfolio is Agriculture Lending. Tell us four of your favorite things: I love to raise and show Angus and Hereford cattle, going to OSU Cowboy Football games, My favorite food is chicken fried steak, and going fishing. What would you do with 30 minutes of free time? I would either take a nap or go fishing.
What makes you unique? I am a fourth generation rancher/farmer. My family and I run about 100 head of cows and replacement heifers. I earned my State and American FFA Degrees
Favorite thing about Enid?
The history that surrounds it and learning all about it. Seeing all of the changes that have been made over the past year or so.
EMILY SUMMARS: Hometown - Norman, OK
Family: I am a self-proclaimed cat-lady who loves spending time with her two furry-four-legged kids, Sheldon and Lexi. My extended furry family lives in Norman, with my mother, and includes: a great Pyrenees, Caeser; Coonhound-Lab Mix, Zinnia; and two cats Callie and Bacon. My human family includes my close friends, life-loving mother and father. Profession: I am a reporter at the Enid News & Eagle. I report on happenings in Grant, Alfalfa, Woods, Woodward, Major, Blaine and Kingfisher County. I am also able to report on my passions; politics, energy and agriculture. I do what I love so I never have to work a day in my life. Tell us four of your favorite things: politics, reading, watching Gilmore Girls and Doctor Who reruns, coloring What would you do with 30 minutes of free time? Nap. No, in all seriousness, I would catch-up with my mother via phone or FaceTime. What makes you unique?
My quirky personality, dabbling interests and the ability to make any story entertaining or interesting. I find almost anything interesting and I love to learn about new things.
Favorite thing about Enid? The overwhelmingly-kind people and the abundance of Mexican food restaurants.
CHRIS THARNISH: Hometown - Yukon, OK
Family: Single. Never married and no children. My father, Doug, and younger brother, Dan, live in Yukon, OK. Profession: I am the Human Resources Coordinator at Pope Distributing Company. I am responsible for all human resource management responsibilities, including recruiting, training, labor law compliance, and safety. Tell us four of your favorite things: I am an avid sports fan. My favorite teams are the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Seattle Mariners. I also enjoy playing Disc Golf at NWOSU and watching movies. My favorite foods are fish tacos and Flamingo burgers. What would you do with 30 minutes of free time? If I had 30 minutes of free time I would spend it outside on a patio with a cold drink! What makes you unique? I feel that I am unique in my ability to work well with anybody. I have always been a team player that is willing to help with any and all projects. I am a people person and I always try to bring out the best in a person. Favorite thing about Enid? My favorite thing about Enid is the small town atmosphere. I feel that the people and the businesses really make newcomers feel right at home, like a small town. Moving to Enid 4 years ago was a very pleasant experience for me because of how my coworkers and the Enid community welcomed me.
