Executive Director Search
Downtown Kenosha, Inc. Executive Director Violet Ricker resigned from her position in late June and the DKI Board of Directors and funding partners have been working closely with KABA to begin the search for her replacement.  The job opening has been posted in a variety of local, regional and national media outlets and industry forums, including those concentrated on economic development and Main Street management.   The primary function of the Executive Director is to lead the implementation of the  Downtown Strategic Development Plan and is responsible for coordinating all project activities regarding Downtown Kenosha's revitalization strategy. First Impressions: Community Sharing Event August 19
In July volunteers from Kenosha and Joliet, IL visited each other's downtown communities and completed a comprehensive assessment. The results of this exchange revealed many valuable insights into community assets, challenges - and most importantly - opportunities.  Join us to hear what Joliet had to say about Downtown Kenosha on August 19 at 7:00pm at KABA (5500 Sixth Avenue, Suite 200 - above Jockey; entrance on 55th Street).  This is free event, but registration is requested; click HERE to RSVP.
State of the Downtown Event August 28
Please join us at the Historic Woman's Club of Kenosha for the Second Annual State of the Downtown event to celebrate the progress being made in implementing Kenosha's Downtown Strategic Development Plan.  An update on recent accomplishments, current developments and upcoming efforts will be presented by Downtown Kenosha, Inc. representatives. A continental breakfast will be served at 7:00am, courtesy of the Woman's Club, and the program will run from 7:30 to 9:00am.  The event is free, but registration is required.  Click  HERE to RSVP.  
Website Facelift & Blog
Members of the Promotions Committee are working on a "facelift" for and have also developed a new Downtown Blog.  The website will be refreshed with more photos, articles and design elements to enhance the visitor's experience. It will also be fully responsive, automatically adapting to the user's device, whether a mobile phone, tablet or desktop computer.  Other new features will include an interactive event calendar, Blog and photo gallery.  Current and prospective business owners will benefit from enhanced content dedicated to doing business in Downtown Kenosha.  A critical function of is to promote our Downtown businesses via individual (free) listings in its Business Directory. If your business listing needs updating, click HERE for instructions on how to submit your content and images. The website updates and blog are expected to go live by September.
October Fall Festival
Promotion Committee volunteers are partnering with the City of Kenosha to jointly hold a Fall Festival once again on October's Second Saturday (October 11).  The afternoon festival will take place in Library Park and a variety of activities are being planned to continue the fun Downtown throughout the day and into the evening.  Watch for an email from Kevin Ervin with details on how you can get involved with this event through activities and promotions at your business, window/storefront decorating, etc.
Downtown Restaurant Week 2015
Downtown Kenosha, Inc. has partnered with the Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau to produce the first annual Downtown Kenosha Restaurant Week February 14 - 22, 2015.  The event will be a price-fixed menu format for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and will cover two weekends that also include Second Saturday, Valentine's Day and Snow Daze.  A grant application to support out-of-town advertising is underway, and the Kenosha News has pledged its support in sponsoring and promoting the event locally.  So far, 15 Downtown Kenosha restaurants have committed to participate.  If you missed the recent survey about participating, we'd still like to hear from you... click HERE to let us know you're interested.  More details will follow in early September.   Questions?  Email Deanna Goodwin or Kevin Ervin, or call 262-654-7307 ext. 11.
