On Sunday, November 9th The Arc's Down Syndrome Family Group visited The Giving Field. ABLE Act Now Law of the Land
On Friday, December 19th President Obama signed the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act into law. The ABLE Act changes the tax code to allow for tax advantaged savings accounts for individuals with disabilities for certain expenses, like education, housing, and transportation.  Similar to existing "Section 529" education savings accounts, ABLE accounts will let families save for disability-related expenses on behalf of qualified beneficiaries with disabilities that will supplement, but not replace, benefits provided through the Medicaid program, the Supplemental Security Income program, the beneficiary's employment, and other sources. Learn More ~

Jay Bruce Golf Benefit raises over $58,000 for
The Arc of Greater Beaumont.
The 5th Annual Jay Bruce Golf Tournament held Saturday, November 15, 2014 was a huge success. "The Arc does so much for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). My sister has IDD and participates in activities provided by The Arc.  One of the most memorable times in my sister's life is when she got to be a model in The Arc's style show.  I am lucky to be able to help such a wonderful organization," said  Jay Bruce.  ~ Learn More ~
Calling all Talent!
Can you sing, dance, or have a unique talent you would like 
to showcase? If so, The Arc's Got Talent Show is for you! Every year The Arc of Greater Beaumont hosts a talent show in which children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are encouraged to showcase their special talents. The 2015 Arc's Got Talent Show will be held Thursday, February 26, 2015. "This is one of my favorite events.  I look forward to performing every year." said SETX Self Advocate President Shane Henry.  Registering is easy just click here.  Don't want to perform? Join us on Thursday, February 26th at 6 pm to cheer on the performers.  The event is free of charge and a whole lot of fun to watch. 
Special Guests visit The Arc's Winter Formal
The Arc held it's annual Winter Formal on Friday, December 5th. Special guests, Herman Fontenot, former Green Bay Packers running back, and Devin Wyman, former New England Patriots defensive tackle, came to show their support for The Arc of Greater Beaumont and to visit with Arc members. Office Closed 12/24/2014- 1/2/2014
The Arc of Greater Beaumont administrative offices will be closed December 24th thru January 2nd so staff can enjoy the holidays with their families. The office will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2015. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
