Local Dance Company Hosts Dance Class for
Arc Adult Social Club Members

On July 22nd Ashland's Affirming Arts dance studio teamed up with the Arc Adult Social Club for a night of dancing, smiles, and laughter.  At the end of the night participants showcased a dance routine they learned. "We had a blast. They (Arc Adult Social Club Members) always teach us way more than we could ever think of teaching them" said studio owner, Ashely Breux. This was the second dance class hosted by Ashland's and will not be the last. Plans are being made to hold another dance class in early December.  Check out all Ashland's has to offer by visiting their website or visiting their facebook page. For additional information on Arc Adult Social Club activities click here and make sure you like us on Facebook. .

Introducing Mom's Talk

Are you a parent of a child with a disability?  Do you ever feel like your friends and family can't relate to some of the challenges you face?  Do you want a time/place to talk to other parents who have children with disabilities?  If you answered yes to any of these questions Mom's Talk is for you.  Mom's talk is a program developed by mom's of the Arc as a time to connect with other parents in a safe environment.  Mom's Talk will be held the first and third Friday of every month at 10:00 am in the Arc's Resource Library located at 700 North St. Beaumont, TX 77701. The first mom's talk is scheduled for Friday September 5th. Click here to view a printable flyer.

Arc Summer Day Camp a Success
The Arc of Greater Beaumont hosted it's annual week long summer day camp July 7th thru July 11th.  23 children attended this camp for a week of recreation and socialization.  " The staff was incredibly patient and determined to include ever child in every activity!" said one parent of her child's experience at camp.  In a survey of parents who's children participated in the Arc's Summer Day Camp, 81% either agreed or strongly agreed that the camp enhanced their child's social skills, and 100% said their child enjoyed their time at the Arc's Summer Day Camp. Create a Student Introduction Profile
Help your child and your child's teacher start the school year off right by creating a student introduction profile.  The purpose in developing a student introduction profile is to help school staff see your child and not just his/her disability.  With a student introduction profile you will be able to clearly and effectively give information about your child's likes, dislikes, strengths, areas that need improvement, and much more.  Texas Project FIRST has put together some great resources for you to start your own student introduction profile.  You can find additional resources on the Arc's online resource library or by calling the Arc Administrative office (409)838-9012.
