Arc Summer Education Grants Help Children's Development During the Summer   

This year, the Arc awarded 12 Summer Education Grants to fund summer services which aim to increase a child's advancement when they are not in school.  "I am so blessed to have The Arc to help my child get the support he needs during the summer" said a 2014 grant recipient. "The Arc of Greater Beaumont strives to improve the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities" said Arc Director of Programs Teri Hawthorne "we are so happy to be able to support these children's needs this summer."

Grow & Play with us Sunday, June 22nd 
The Grow and Play program is a Gymboree inspired program designed for children to get physical while having fun in a safe and structured environment.  Each class will offer a mix of large group games and small group activity stations.  All activities were developed with the collaboration of LPT, Dr. Christie O'Neal and have been created to promote movement, social skills, develop coordination, and provide sensory input.  Children ages 3 to 10 are invited to join us Sunday, June 22nd at S.T.A.R.S. Pediatric. Singing up is easy just  register online today!

Arc Dances Promote Fun and Fitness
According to the CDC the obesity rates for adults with disabilities is approximately 57% higher than for adults without disabilities. Regular physical activity provides important health benefits including improved cardiovascular and muscle fitness, improved metal health, and better ability to do tasks of daily life. Did you know that at an Arc Dance you are can have fun with your friends and work on being physically fit and active? Teens and Adults ages 16 and up with intellectual and developmental disabilities are invited to join the Arc in July for two great opportunities to dance off some calories and work towards a happier healthy lifestyle.  Friday, July 18th from 7:00 to 9:00 you can join the Arc for a Luau Dance. Tuesday, July 22nd join the Arc from 7:30 to 8:30 pm for a special Dance class taught by the teachers and students of Ashland's Affirming Arts!  For tips on how adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can stay fit and active visit www.selfadvocacyonline.org
