Thank You for an Amazing Year
The Arc of Greater Beaumont was able to accomplish so much with your help this year. Some highlights from 2013 include:
* 2nd Annual Beaumont Buddy Walk for Down syndrome awareness
* 5th Annual Stars of the Arc Celebrity Style Show and Dinner
* Development of an online and on site resource library
* Launch of the Arc Summer Stipend Program
* Overcoming Obstacles day long conference
* Down Syndrome Family Group's Baby Basket Project
*Self Advocates trip to Austin to promote advocacy at the capitol
Along with these accomplishments, we also had an increase in participation in adult socialization programs and family events while making some great memories and wonderful friends along the way.

New "Grow and Play" Program Coming in 2014
The Arc of Greater Beaumont continually strives to provide programs and services to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages.   We are excited to

announce the expansion of our Children and Family Services track of programming.  The "Grow and Play" program is a program in conjunction with S.T.A.R.S. Pediatric Outpatient Clinic designed to provide a place for parents and children up to 10 years of age with special needs to interact while learning techniques to help growth through physical activity.  Join us on Sunday, January 26th to speak with Christie O'Neal, S.T.A.R.S. Pediatric's owner and Doctor of Physical Therapy, about what this program could offer your child.  For details about the informational meeting or tentative program dates, please call (409)838-9012 or email [email protected]

First Autism Support Meeting Sunday, February 9th

In September, The Arc of Greater Beaumont had an Autism Support Group interest meeting.  Thanks in part to the large turnout at this meeting, The Arc of Greater Beaumont has started an Autism Parent Support Group. The first meeting of the Autism Parent Support Group will be Sunday, February 9th at 4:00 pm. We will be hosting a parent panel and offering some time for parent networking.  If you have a child on the autism spectrum or are a professional or educator who works with children on the autism spectrum, we encourage you to become a part of The Arc's Autism Support Group.  For details, view the printable flyer, email [email protected], or call (409)838-9012.

The Arc of the United States HeathMeet

The Arc of the United States in cooperation with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has formed HeathMeet "to reduce health
disparities and increase the longevity and quality of life for people with intellectual disabilities (ID)" (The Arc of the United States).
Through this program, The Arc of The United States has put together some great resources for parents and self advocates to better take charge of their health.  Visit The Arc of the United States for more information on the HeathMeet program as well as additional programming The Arc of the United States has to offer.

Calling all talent for the Arc's Got Talent Show

Get your act together and start practicing for this year's Arc's Got Talent.  We cannot wait to see all the wonderful talent our Arc members have to offer!  Event date and sign up sheets coming soon.
