JAPONICA OPEN HOUSE-DINNER UNDER THE OAKS
K2-5th grade families are invited to attend our annual Classroom Open House and then join us for a new event...Dinner Under the Oaks.
Let your child show you everything they love about their home away from home: their desk, their teacher, their artwork, their school work, their friends and more.  Afterwards, we encourage you to stick around for fellowship with the rest of the SLES family!  Bring your own picnic dinner or purchase some great offerings from the local food trucks who will be there.  Chairs and blankets are encouraged as we picnic Under the Oaks.

Our students will be packaging the assorted candies and treats into Halloween goodie bags for the children and our Student Ambassadors will be delivering them.

AN ALL NEW HALLOWEEN/FOOTBALL  TRADITION
This year our last Varsity football game will be on Friday, October 30th at West Mobile Park.  We are inviting families of both campuses to come out and support our Wildcats by tailgating and enjoying the game.  But wait, there's more!!  This year we also wanted to do something fun for the little ones while we tailgate.  Bring them in their costumes and let them participate in Trunk-N-Treat!  You could choose to decorate your trunk, the bed of your truck or tailgating tent!  Bring candy or trinkets to hand out to our little Wildcats and then join us for the last football game of the season!
ROBOTICS...HITTING PAY DIRT!
Our SLES Robotics Team has been busy gearing up for the 2015 Jubilee BEST competition on Saturday, October 24th at the Mitchell Center.  They are not only responsible for designing and building their robot, they are required to design and create a trade booth, provide a sales presentation to the judges, publicize their product and its abilities, provide community outreach, assist other BEST teams and can also earn points based on the number of fans who come out to cheer them on for game day!
Listen to Alli Kangal's iHeart Radio spot supporting Jubilee BEST Robotics.
YOU can help them earn their spirit points by cheering them on during the competition Saturday, October 24th between 9am and 3pm at the Mitchell Center!
Special thanks to Debbie Pearce, mother of Matthew (3rd grade) and Senior Process Engineer at Olin Chlor Alkali who along with the Plant Manager and 5 others from the Olin administrative team met with several of our St. Luke's Robotics members.

Olin Chlor Alkali mines salt and supplies chlorine, caustic soda, hydrochloride acid, bleach and potassium hydroxide as well as related products. The students learned about the mining process, discussed engineering and administrative tasks and strategy and then toured the plant.
