LOWER SCHOOL "NOTES HOME"  FROM DR. KEESEE

MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL BACK TO SCHOOL PARENT NIGHT
Middle and Upper School Parents: Don't forget to join us Tuesday, September 1st for our annual Back to School Parent Night.  This is your opportunity to hear from Mr. Notaro, MS and US administrators and your child's teachers. The night starts at 6:00 pm in the Moorer Center. After a brief meeting with Mr. Notaro you will "walk through" your child's schedule to meet teachers and to hear about each class. 


 

 

UPPER SCHOOL REQUIRED CEU..."DEVELOPING YOUNG LEADERS"
St. Luke's Episcopal School presents "Developing Young Leaders" as part of our 2015-2016 CEU Series.  Our featured speaker will be Mayor Sandy Stimpson along with District Attorney Ashley Rich and Dr. Joe'l Lewis, Youth Leadership Mobile.  Together these three speakers will present a motivational and informational talk on developing attitudes, discovering opportunities and experiencing the rewards of service leadership.  Upper School Student attendance is REQUIRED. Parents are welcome.

SLES MOBILE AZALEA TRAIL MAIDS
SELECTION PROCESS

This year, SLES was fortunate to have 2 students selected to represent the City of Mobile as Azalea Trail Maids: Eden Marble and Sara Taylor.  The school's nomination process will begin soon.  If you are a junior and are interested in participating, please contact Ms. Cotton so that we can notify you once we have received the 2016-2017 information from the Mobile Jaycees. 

 

 

FLU SHOT CLINIC
St. Luke's will be hosting a Flu Shot Clinic on Wednesday, September 9th and parents are invited to participate.  The clinic will be on the Japonica Campus from 8am-10am and on the University Campus from 12:30pm-2:30pm.  If you are interested in participating, please email Nurse Cherie Ferebee (cferebee@stlukesmobile.com).  Download and complete this required Release of Liability Form and  bring it with you when you come. 



2015 COLLEGE ADMISSION FORUM
Bayside Academy is hosting a College Admissions Forum for parents and students in grades 7-12.  The forum will be held on their campus September 29th and is free. Topics include:  Admissions, Campus Career Services, Cyber Security,
Selective Admission (Who Gets Into Top Colleges and What Makes the Difference) and more....Upper School students who attend will receive a CEU credit.

JAPONICA CAMPUS-5th GRADE LEADERSHIP
Congratulations to the following 5th graders who have been selected to serve as Student Ambassadors and Safety Patrol Captains for the school year:
Student Ambassadors are Devan Bailey, Jackson Boone, Jarnae Harris, Taylor Jackson, Virginia Grace Merrick,  Alex Portella, Stone Smith and Head Ambassador Lydia Burnham.
Safety Patrol Captains are Peter Campbell,  Zachary Cobb, Charlie Ann Phillips, and Gracie Wallace.

 

A WILDCAT REPRESENTS THE USA....WILDCAT STRONG!! 
UPDATE: Sophomore Jeremiah Jackson, currently representing the USA on the 15U National Baseball Team and competing in the Pan Am Games, LEADS TEAM USA with 10 hits in 5 games!! The team is 4-1 with wins over Venezuela, Argentina, Columbia and Panama.  Their only loss is to Cuba. Keep hitting 'em Jeremiah...we are so proud of you!

K3-5th GRADE CHEER CLINIC
The SLES Varsity Cheerleaders are hosting a cheer clinic September 29th -October 1st for students in grades K3-5.  The clinic will be held from 3:00 until 4:30 each day after school and participants will cheer before the varsity football game on Friday, October 2nd.  The $50 fee includes a  SLES cheer t-shirt ( which can be worn for the varsity game) and after school snacks!  Registration deadline is September 11th.  Shirts are Comfort Colors (short and long sleeve available) and are perfect for students (out of uniform days) and parents and grandparents who want to support their Wildcats!

2015 HONOR PLEDGE CEREMONIES

The 2015-2016 Honor Pledge Ceremonies, led by the members of our Honor Council, were held on Monday and Tuesday of this week.    During the Middle and Upper School ceremony, the new members of the Honor Council took their oath to uphold the standard of Honor set forth at St. Luke's. Each member of the Council and every member of the Senior Class signed the Honor Pledge Card in front of the other 6th-11th grade students.    Afterwards,  students were dismissed to    their homerooms, in silence, where they also signed the Honor Pledge Card. 
  













On the Japonica Campus, fifth grade students signed the pledge in front of the students in grades 1-4 and then the students returned to their classroom to sign the pledge  card individually. 
PEP RALLY FOR K2-6th GRADE FAMILIES
Thanks to all of the student athletes (Big and Little), coaches and parents who came out for our WILDCAT KICK-OFF! Special thanks to the Booster Club for hosting the event and providing the hot dogs and drinks!  It was a great night to be a  WILDCAT!

We are very excited to announce we are bringing him to you!  The event is open to the general public and is free of charge..spread the word. Seating will be first come first served.

 

 

ATHLETICS
BOOSTER CLUB MEMBERSHIP
The Booster Club is an incredible asset to our school and our to athletes and their contributions, both monetary and in volunteer hours are significant. Membership provides an opportunity for you to support our programs, while receiving some perks for joining including game passes, car decals, etc.  Your support of the Booster Club provides support to our student-athletes of all ages!  Download a Membership Form.

VARSITY FOOTBALL GAME
The Wildcats will play their first game of the season Friday, September 4th at Sweetwater and return to play their FIRST HOME GAME on Friday, September 11th against Washington County. Our football games are fun for the whole family and the environment is awesome for kids of all ages!   Come out and cheer them on! Kick off is at 7:00 pm  at West Mobile Park (directions).  Admission is $6 for adults (students and children under 6 are free).  Parking is $4.00. 

TAILGATING
Don't forget we encourage you to come out and tailgate before every home game.   You can tailgate in the open or under the shade of the beautiful trees, from your car or under a pop up tent, with your family or with friends, as simple or as elaborate as you like. Come out and make a night of it with the Wildcats..we appreciate your enthusiasm!

VOLLEYBALL

Our Lady Wildcats always schedule a tough season and always rise to the occasion!  Come out and watch these teams in action! 

On September 2nd JV will host Spanish Fort (4:30) and McGill (6:30).  On Thursday SLES hosts Baker  (JV 4:30/Varsity 5:30) and on September 9th the Wildcats host Mobile Christian (JV/5:30/Varsity 6:30). Admission is $6 per adult-students and children under 6 are free. Download the Varsity and JV schedules.
