Oklahoma Main Street Program (OKMSP) requires all its Main Street cities to submit Monthly Reinvestment Reports in order to maintain their status. If Main Street Bartlesville (MSB) misses 3 reports, it will lose access to the free services provided by OKMSP, including architectural and business development services, training, and much more.

The purpose of the reinvestment report is to show the investment being made in downtown, both private and public. The information collected includes renovations and new construction, properties sold, businesses coming into and those leaving downtown, new jobs and jobs lost. Volunteer hours are also included in this report. All information provided to Main Street Bartlesville for the report is kept confidential.

2nd St. FLAT Houses Infinite Design & Introduces Yoga Classes

2nd St. FLAT is part of the historic Hildabrand Farm and Ranch Supply building, owned by Lindsey Hildabrand-Pickering's Grandfather. The main space of the flat used to be the old chicken coop room!

Lindsey uses the space for her staging business, Infinite Design, to keep her inventory and have it accessible for clients to come and "shop" for items needed to stage their home.  Her vision is to have a small venue space that can be utilized in a variety of artistic ways; providing private singing lessons for kids, Yoga, a unique space for photographers to hold sessions, bridal showers, birthday parties, and small receptions.

In April she is featuring a Yoga class that will start Wednesday, April 19th at 5:30pm and continue every Wednesday after that. For the month of April classes are a "suggested donation" of only $10.  In the future she hopes to expand into health and nutrition classes and seminars.  To pre-register for the first Yoga class, participants can send an email to 2ndstflat@gmail.com, and give your name and contact number.

To schedule an appointment to view the space as a venue you can use the same email address or call Lindsey at 918-440-7975.  You can also like them on Facebook at 2ndst FLAT

Update: Downtown Landscape Task Force

2nd Street and Dewey Avenue Streetscape Project.

We continue to meet weekly and are on track to have a landscape maintenance recommendation and bid-ready documents for 2nd Street & Dewey by the April 17 City Council meeting.

In our February issue we reported that that the City Council established a Downtown Landscape Task Force to validate and refine the Downtown Landscape Plan developed by Main Street Bartlesville as presented to City Council in May 2016. In addition, the group will develop the final design for the 2nd Street and Dewey Avenue landscape project. In keeping with the Plan, the Task Force will determine both short-term and long-term funding sources for downtown landscape maintenance.

The task force has been meeting every Tuesday at 11:00am in the small conference room behind the City Council chambers at City Hall.  The conceptual design has been re-validated and Randy Weatherly (Ambler Architects) and Micah Siemers (City Engineer) are taking the lead on preparing bid-ready documents by April 17th City Council meeting. The Task Force is also beginning to discuss the pros and cons of various options for both short-term and long-term maintenance funding.

Our History

Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Depot

201 SW Keeler Ave.

This one-story building was constructed of red brick in 1909, at a cost of $40,000. The railroad served to meet the freight and passenger needs of the rapidly growing oil town of Bartlesville. The building was stuccoed in 1946 by the Santa Fe Railroad to reflect a "progressive" corporate image. On April 30, 1971, the last AT&SF passenger train departed from Bartlesville. The Depot is home to the last remaining Santa Fe-type "2-10-2" locomotive out of 332 such steamers that saw service.

In 1983-84, Phillips Petroleum Company renovated the building and donated it to the Bartlesville Chamber of Commerce. Architectural features of the building include a hipped roof of red clay tile supported by wooden brackets. The roof is interrupted by arched parapets with limestone copings and an arched portico at the main entrance. Built in 1909.
