February 2016 Reinvestment Report Statistics
Oklahoma Main Street Program (OKMSP) requires all its Main Street cities to submit Monthly Reinvestment Reports in order to maintain their status. If Main Street Bartlesville (MSB) misses 3 reports, it will lose access to the free services provided by OKMSP, including architectural and business development services, training, and much more.
The purpose of the reinvestment report is to show the investment being made in downtown, both private and public. The information collected includes renovations and new construction, properties sold, businesses coming into and those leaving downtown, new jobs and jobs lost. Volunteer hours are also included in this report. All information provided to Main Street Bartlesville for the report is kept confidential.
For February 2016, $304,000 in renovations were invested, 2 jobs were added and 1 business opened. A total of 230 hours were put in by Main Street volunteers.
Cumulative numbers since Main Street Bartlesville's inception in October 2010: $13,722,566 private investment (renovations, new construction, properties purchased); 268 jobs added and 64 businesses opened (net); $672,500 public investment; and 20,395 hours put in by Main Street volunteers.

Caney River Bridge Project
Bartlesville has many historic landmarks and events b

ut the Caney River Bridge is a special one. Built in 1937, the Caney River Bridge spans Caney River next to Johnstone Park and connects Dewey to Bartlesville via Highway 123. The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) evaluated the bridge and dam and determined both are eligible for National Register of Historic Places.
Due to its age, Oklahoma Department of Transportation (OKDOT) has ruled the Caney River Bridge is deficient and either needs repairs or needs replaced. Our community has a big say in whether the bridge is repaired, as Oklahoma state laws are very strict about how to handle historic bridges. There are ultimately three options: repair the bridge, remove and replace bridge, replace bridge and leave existing bridge as a pedestrian bridge.
OKDOT will be holding a public forum soon to get further community input. MSB will announce when a time and place has been decided upon to encourage participation.
